FH thought about doing it with his family only when we were on a trip with them. I would have been pissed that he did it in front of people and included one family and not the other. Luckily he did it just the two of us and it was perfect. My friend had both families there and she loved it. So it really is know your fiancé sort of thing.

I say for the proposal have it be a private moment of it being just you two! Create an event for all the family meet up at a certain location in order to help celebrate, but don't go directly there afterwards, give yourselves time to enjoy that special moment with each other.

I would have liked my family to be there, but also know that it would have become overwhelming in which I would be pulled in one direction and then him in another. I was still extremely happy with how my FH did the proposal, because I told him that if he decided to ever ask me that my son had to be there and if he wasn't he better be prepared for me to say no, he listened! Lol
