Pros & cons to a summer date

Samantha, on February 8, 2022 at 11:24 PM Posted in Rhode Island Planning 0 3

We are about to lock in a date for a Rhode Island venue (outside tent, outside ceremony, on the Bay) and found myself stumped between a June 9 or a July 21 date.

My thinking is…

June date

(Pro) - going to be beautiful regardless and cheaper - ish hotels for Newport, RI

(Con) - going to be too cold (potentially?) - I am wanting nice weather for the rest of the wedding weekend activities.

July Date

(Pro) - nice weather - the best! Little chance of rain and will be ideal for guests coming in from other states.

(Cons) - too hot, too humid? I forgot I’ll be wearing a wedding dress and such… Lastly, way expensive hotel prices for guests which is giving me anxiety Smiley tongue

Is July not a popular month for New England weddings? The price is the same if you’re in the summer months.. any thoughts welcome!

I live in NJ and wanted to have wedding during the summer and chose a date in July to be safer weather wise. June is unpredictable where you could get a colder rainy day. We stayed away from August cause there have been hurricanes the last couple of years.
I understand about expensive hotels for guests because they are all super pricey during this season on the shore. We are subsidizing costs of each room.

I agree! I'd go with July because it can still be kind of cold in June!! ☀️

Thank you for your thoughts. I am hoping it’s not too hot and humid in mid-July and re: the expensive hotel prices we are trying to get the lowest we can for guests!! But it’s booked! Smiley heart
