I am a bigger girl, and I am dang proud of it! How many ladies are NOT going on a diet and getting the dress formed to them (not form to the dress)?

Does it count if I started eating healthier and loosing weight BEFORE I got engaged? I'm a size 18. I'de like to just loose the unhealthy weight, not for my dress but for me. I like how I look, I just don't want to get sick.

I think a distinction should be made between losing weight *just* to look good in a wedding gown, versus losing weight to maintain good heart health and health in general.

While in some countries being overweight or obese is a sign of wealth, research has shown time and time again that maintaining unhealthy weight increases the risk of many diseases.

It's great to have a healthy body image whether you're a "regular" weight or overweight. Working on your health for your children and future husband is great too, though! I just don't want that to get lost in the sauce! Smiley smile

I agree with you Jasmine about the "losing weight to just look good in a wedding gown" vs. "losing weight to start a healthier lifestyle".

I have chosen my wedding as a motivator to lose the unwanted weight that I have accumulated since dating FH. I'm doing it for myself and no one else. My FH loves me just the way I am and I have asked him to "help me" by telling me when I'm overindulging, etc. and he often doesn't say anything because he doesn't want me depriving myself.

His mom is a huge advocate for "eat whatever you want, who cares if you're a little bit overweight" so he's grown up knowing this.

I'm not going to stress myself over losing weight for ONE day. If I'm going to do it, I will do it for my life. But I've always been overweight and I don't want to appear to be someone I am not in my wedding.

I need to lose weight, not to look "good" in my gown, but to save money on the alterations for my gown lol! I fell in love with a dress that was a little snug (and the salon couldn't order another one) - we made sure that we could add some material to the dress using one of the two wraps it came with. Well, I'd rather just save some money, so I'm trying to drop a few pounds before my first fitting in December. I am not stressing about it. If I lose the weight, I lose it. If not, my dress will just need more alterations. No big deal. I'm totally proud of my body & I'm happy with my size! Smiley smile

(And by lose weight, I mean like a few pounds - not like dropping dress sizes!!! lol)

I work out regularly, but it is what it is. I'm plus size! I've learned to not harp on the clothing size as long as I feel healthy and see the improvement in my strength. I did not do anything outside of my regular routine to fit into my dress. I wore an 18W and proud of it darn it!

I thought about dieting before the wedding but FH said he loved me the way I am and that I didn't need to lose any weight to be beautiful. I love that man.

I'm not dieting for the wedding. Making smaller changes to support overall health but there's no way I'm doing drastic changes for my wedding. I need to lose weight for health reasons and it didn't come on my body over night (other than 40lbs in a month due to a medication lol), so it won't come off overnight either.

I'm not trying to stress about it much, and FH does love me anyway, or why would he be with me, and wanting to marry me.

But in saying that, I have dieted a little, and excercised, trying to tone up. I'd like to drop at least one size before the wedding. I'd like to get back to the weight I was initally when I first met my FH.

After starting BC, getting into a car accident, and breaking my foot in 3 places, and on top of that, FH being a great cook, I have put on a little bit of weight. & I want to try to be healthier.

But I'm not stressing about, and I did get a dress that fits me.

So NOT stressing over the weight. I am a size 18-20. I found a sample gown I loved from Alfred Angelo's collection for Women, and I have to have it taken in a little. My FH loves me for me! My family loves me for me, and I like my curves!

I think I may have to lose a few pounds to get INTO my dress now! I probably gained 5-8 pounds after purchasing it! LOL.. It was rather snug when I tried it on when it came in. I also would like to tone my arms and such but that's about it.

I bought a dress wayyy bigger than I needed, and good thing just inase I get pregnant! I am not BBW but I think it is insane to go on a diet just for a wedding day. I don't plan to. I had a friend get married and she litterally survived on celery, water and soda crackers the 2 weeks before her wedding!! She hardly had the energy to get married!

I have another friend who did get engaged and is a BBW and she has started, not a diet, but a healthier lifestyle, less junk a bit more activity. And she has lost 25 pounds, but in a way that is healthy and maintainable for life! Very proud of her!

Ohh and gorgeous dresses ladies! Makes me wanna go dress shopping all over again (even though I LOVE my dress lol)

OH I love those gowns. =) I am a bigger girl, and would be happy staying my old size (22). I loved the way I looked in the gown I am going to order even thought I was the heaviest I have ever been!

However, I have been losing weight for health problems (high blood pressure and sleep apnea). I don't want to go on medicine when there is a healthier way to (hopefully) fix those problems I have!

*Edit* Here is a picture of me in my Allure W225 Dress! It was a size 22 or 24 I think. I look like a Giant compared to that little lady behind me haha

I have had comments made to me about my eating prior to our wedding. " better not eat like that or too much or ur dress won't fit!" I just told them my dress was made to fit me, not the other way around. I didn't diet! No need! He loves me as is

=[[ I wish I was as confident. I'm not big big but i'm most def not skinny, and my FH says i have the most beautiful body he's ever seen...but I'm not comfy with myself or in my skin. I'm on this okay diet and it works...I can do the breakfast and the dinner and the snacks, but i can not seem to get myself to eat the lunches =\ the dress I want, my mom says it won't look good on a girl my size
