PSA: Don't use Union Station

Bride2Be2018, on June 8, 2017 at 9:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hi all. I keep seeing debates about where to find BM dresses. I just wanted to share my experience on Union Station dresses for a wedding I was in a couple weekends ago. First off, the sizing runs in 2 sizes at a time...so 1 dress is a 2/4, the next size up is a 6/8. So, unless you are perfectly in between a size the dresses are either too loose(boob part falling down) or realllly hard to zip up and too tight. This sizing format is HORRIBLE. The tops are stretched out and we had girls who had the clasps above the zipper part missing. The color was supposed to be mint green, but it came out more as a light Sage green. The color was pretty, but not what the bride wanted. Overall, a negative experience and I would really suggest going with another company if you're going to do dress rentals.

I'm sorry you had such a negative experience! Thanks for sharing.

We ordered our BM dresses online from cocomelody and we had a similar, not as bad situation. everyone's dress except for one girl came about a size too big, and they all ordered off the size chart measurements. Luckily they were too big and not too small and everyone could get them tailored to fit pretty easily.

Thank you for confirming my decision not to use them. I was skeptical about dresses that were rented and couldn't be altered. And truth be told, I thought the dresses were sorta boring.

Clothing sizes confuse me. All the brands I shop at use even number sizes (00, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.) if it's not just XS, S, M, L, XL. With the numbers, is 4 to 6 one sizes or two?

For those reading this thread and wanting to rent, we used vow to be chic. While their communications sucked, the dresses were beautiful and fit everyone well.

I should add don't use Amsale/Bella Bridesmaids. They are the ones who told me they could no longer complete my order on time 2 months before the wedding.

@ Jenny, 1 size is a 4/6. So your dress tag reads a combo of 8/10. The next size dress up is a combo 6/8. Just with the sizing in and of itself it's a mess. How can somebody who is a 8 also be a 10? @Andrea I have also reviewed onlineSmiley smile

@CoffeeNColor...I have seen a lot of brides on here have good things to say about Azazie

ETA @Coffee...as @Bee above said maybe Vow To Be Chic? Just not U.S. lol!

    That's so weird!

I see on their website that they offer a backup size, but that doesn't even make sense. I'm typically a 6, so I'd order the 6/8. But a 2/4 would probably be way too tight, no way in hell I'd fit something that would fit a size 2 girl, and a 10/12 would be way too big, something that fits a size 12 girl would be falling down. So what's the point? Backup sizes make sense for Rent the Runway, so you have two different sizes, but this system means that in one dress, you already have two sizes.

@Fallinthe garden yes it's so jacked up! I'm sorry I misspoke on the sizing in the comments and realized my mistake seeing your comment, since I am also a 6. So, actually looking back the combo sizes are a 4/6 OR 8/10 (again sorry for the mistake!). So for me the 4/6 was too tight and the 8/10 was huge. You would have to buy it and get it altered, negating the point of saving money on a rental.

    ETA: sizing

@mermaid I think dress rentals can be OK just go with a different company IMO, one that doesn't have combo sizing.

@bee- that comment is reassuring. I keep jumping back and forth between vow to be chic or Azazie. I still haven't quite made up my mind.

My ladies used Azazie and raved about how easy it was and how much they loved their dresses! They all looked amazing! I know at least two of my girls have already worn the dresses again to other events. Sizing was perfect and the option to try it on before you buy for $10 was great for everyone. I highly recommend Azazie!

I almost used Azazie, but the dresses I wanted were a little over budget for one of my girls. We bought through RenzRags on etsy.
