PSA: For those who are advocating no RSVP=no seat.

We were tackling our 25 missing RSVPs. Turns out at least 3 were lost in the mail and two of those were acceptances from people that I assumed would be nos. Please follow up with your guests rather than assuming as the postal system sucks. That's all and happy Thursday!

Omg, @Lauren, this is not meant to offend at all, but as someone who has to deal with the postal office on a daily basis, your last sentence has me laughing so hard I had to close my office door.

    - I have already now seen that the postal system is far from perfect.

I seriously can't stop laughing, the post office is the most worthless and inefficient than the DMV.

Good thing to keep in mind! We planned to follow up but we definitely will after hearing your experience! Ya never know!

I plan to follow up with everyone that we did not receive an RSVP from. I will not assume they are not coming unless they do not response to my attempts to follow up.

I have opened up RSVP options to include email, online, phone call, text message, and FB because it seems to be a cultural divide between my family and FH's family in understanding how important an RSVP is for planning a wedding.

Had I have known in advance that so many of FH's family members would not bother sending back the stamped envelope with the RSVP card, I could have saved some money on postage!!

I plan on calling the people I don't get an RSVP from. I'm just worried about the awkwardness of them being like "I'm not going that's why I didn't RSVP".

Do people rent extra chairs and stuff for people who just randomly bring a date or RSVP no and show up anyways?

This is why I'm a big fan of e-vites. At least if they're undeliverable, you get a quick message back saying so.

That said, fiance is set on paper invites. So I'll be obsessing over the mail like the rest of you this fall. Sigh.

@m, I've seen some people on here say they would not be following up, and that anyone who didn't care enough to RSVP would not have a seat available. Turns out some people I assumed didn't care actually do.

Now I kind of wish I would have given people the option to RSVP on my wedding website... Maybe I will still have that but it just won't say anything on the invites.
