PSA: Kay Jewelry Lost My Wedding Band

So I haven't been on WW in ages (I've been busy having a baby!) but I wanted to draw attention to this in every way I could so others can avoid this experience! My husband purchased my engagement & wedding ring set from a Kay Jewelry store in 2015. In 2016 one of the side stones on my engagement ring fell out. It was replaced. Then, in early September of this year a side stone fell out of my wedding band. This was the second stone to fall out of the ring in the two years we've had it. I took the ring in to Kay to have it sent out for repairs. I got a phone call about two weeks later on a Friday saying that my wedding ring was held up at a "hub" in Indiana. Early the next week, I got a call that the package with my ring in it was in fact lost and the ring would need to be replaced. There was no apology for the fact that my wedding band, that I have a sentimental attachment to, had been lost. Instead, the caller simply asked for a new size and that was it. (Cont. in comments)

Kay/zales are the some company and I had the WORST experience with zales. Pretty similar to yours, they never lost my ring but they replaced my engagement ring twice before I took my stone to a. Local jeweler and had it reset. I was even told by one of the store managers its my fault my ring was damaged and my lifestyle (I'm a fucking banker) wasn't right for the "delicate" ring.

My fh went to a local jeweler in town, but I had a bracelet from kay that I had replaced 4 times and modified because of its poor quality. What's worse is that I loved the bracelet and continued to get it fixed because I wore it everyday. I think it's sitting in a jewelry box now in pieces. I gave up

Omg I would be losing it at them. They must make a shit ton of mistakes because I've heard a lot of stories.

Oh no, OP, I am so sorry! For them not to even apologize is unfathomable. FH and I did look at Kay, and I'm so glad we didn't buy there. They were so pushy, and I've heard so many bad things about them since.

I'm so sorry OP :'( I'm another Kay bride. I've had my engagement ring since the beginning of April this year and on our honeymoon I noticed a tiny stone was missing. Right after I got engaged I read reviews on kays and immediately got our money refunded for their protection plan because no way in hell was I sending my rings off to god knows where every 6 months. I would've taken my ring set back altogether if I didn't absolutely love it. I've since taken it to Shane co for the repair but plan to take it to small family shops from now on as the tiny stone I got replaced cost me $115 at Shane co and it would've been $50 at a smaller mom and pop shop. It would've taken longer at the smaller shop though (a few days to order and then put the diamond in) but I was impatient.

I'd also like to mention that we got DHs ring at Kay's and when we got it they ordered it in the wrong size and we received no apology for their fuck up.

Kay's has beautiful jewelry but shitty customer service from what I've seen and heard.

    So sorry again OP.

Sorry to hear that. I used to work at the corporate headquarters years ago and heard plenty of stories like yours. I did get discounted jewelry when I worked there (the up charge on jewelry is insane!) and the stones always fell out on everything! I would suggest calling corporate/customer relations and getting your $$ back to go somewhere else.

Everytime I've went to Kays, they dont listen, have no want to help with my problems. I wont go there and refuse to buy jewlery there. They only want money, They don't care about whats going on.

I'd not just take this to corporate. I'd take this to the media: Consumerist/Consumer Reports; those I-Team segments on the local news and anything similar in your local paper. If you have a sizable social media following, I'd wield that to your avail as well.

This is what I have been terrified about for the last two weeks. My engagement ring and both wedding bands are with Kay now being cleaned and fused. I am so nervous that something is not going to go right and I will receive a similar call.. these jewelers are a bit ridiculous!

We went to Shane Co and they were amazing! The first store we went to was Kay and I also didn't have a good experience. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the ring but I hope you are able to get something more beautiful!

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!! My FH bought my ering from Diamonds Direct & that's where we'll get our wedding bands as well. I HIGHLY recommend them, if there's one anywhere close to you. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING & their jewelry is impeccable.
