I posted this on another wedding forum that I am no longer a part of, so I wanted to post it here. If you don't want to save money and want that Michaels brand attatched to it, then ignore this thread!

We plan to do our own centerpieces. I purchased a square vase from Michaels and it was still $3 with a coupon. Then I came across Dollar Tree! They had the same square vases for $1. So which one do you think came from Dollar Tree and which one came from Michaels. You'd be surprised!

The one on the left is from Michaels and the one on the right is from Dollar Tree. The Dollar Tree vase is bigger, thicker, and feels more durable.

I'm loving the vase from Dollar Tree. But it doesn't sound like a ripoff. I don't like Michaels however, their prices are too high.

We've actually found lots of great finds on the DollarTree web site, www.dollartree.com. They've got stuff we haven't seen in the stores, and they ship your merchandise for free when you have it delivered to your nearest store. It's not useful if you only want one or two items because everything is shipped in bulk.

The tink it doesn't matter how thick the vase is or etc. It's only going to be used for one day . Plus once you put flowers in it you can't tell the difference. It's not a rip-off because Michael's is better quailty that's why the price is higher. I would just return the Michael's vases and get them from DT.

Not a "rip off" just a better deal. And trust me, no one is going to be picking up the vases and inspecting them lol ... Everyones going to be focused on good food and entertainment!!!

I didn't read any of the comments. I greatly prefer the vase on the left to the one on the right...the one on the right LOOKS like it cost $1. :/ Anyway, I wouldn't call Michaels a ripoff, I would just say you didn't do your research by price-comparing before you started buying things.

I agree with you Miss Tattoo. You really can't tell the difference between the two vases other than the size of them. You won't have the two vases next to each other at the reception, so people are not going to notice the difference anyway. Save $$$ where you can because you can use that extra $2 somewhere else. Usually, you can order more online from Dollar Tree if the particular store does not have enough. They sell them in larger quantities online.

Dollartree.com. they sell in bulk (cases of 12), often have free shipping and have the same prices. Oh and they have a "Wedding" tab.

PS - If they weren't side by side, do you think anyone would say "Oh that looks cheap."????

Michael's is just overpriced. I kind of think of it as the 711 of arts and crafts. Everything's more expensive at 711, but it's convenient because it's all in one location.

I am not biased either way. I shop at both stores. I did get things for my wedding at both places. I did buy small glass vases from the dollar tree and they were MADE IN THE USA. Are the ones at Michaels? Sorry, I always feel better buying things that are made here and it will influence my decision to buy something. I bought my ribbon to wrap my bouquets and a picture frame for everyone to sign from Michaels. Their coupons helped influence that decision.

I think it is crap that people say one vase looks better than the other one in the picture. Seriously?? How can you tell without seeing them in person and holding them in your hands. The only difference is one was taller!

On the table they'll both look about the same, and I agree with Mrs. D; buying USA made products is a very significant way to help the economy. I'd love to see someone start a website for wedding product strictly made in the USA...anyone need a side gig?
