Psa/advice Needed: Waxing Mishap

EngineerInLove, on March 31, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13
Luckily my wedding isn't for another few months, but FH has an event for work next week and I asked to have my eyebrows waxed during my facial. I've done this before and have NEVER had an issue. Unfortunately this time, the esthetician forgot about waxing until after I had been moisturized, so the wax stuck and burned, and there's a chunk of my eyebrow missing now... a week before my makeup trial and FH's work event. And knowing my skin it'll probably scan over during the week. FH never notices anything and he pointed this out to me immediately, it's worse in person.

PSA: even if you know your beauty care people and have never had an issue, leave yourself enough time to get all of your treatments done just in case there's an issue!!

Advice needed: I'm using Cera Ve healing ointment to hopefully clear it up with minimal scabbing, and avoiding the more abrasive skin treatments I normally use. Any other treatments you would recommend?

I had this happen to me years ago and it scabbed over and took awhile to heal.. maybe use some Neosporin?

I've had this happen a few times. Usually it happens when I'm using product for my acne (face creams or heavy face washes) that make my skin more sensitive. I'm actually pretty worried this will happen right before my wedding. I used a lot of Aloe and neosporin, but it did scab over.

I know La Mer is ungodly expensive, but it truly is a miracle worker for facial skin burns and scabs. If you don't want to want to make the investment, I recommend stopping by Nordstroms and asking for a sample of the cooling gel or moisturizing cream. A little bit will last you a while. Most creams like Neosporin can't be absorbed by the skin on your face.

Ooof this happened to my friend once on both brows! It scanned but she used tons of neosporen. Have you tried threading?

I've done threading before but the results are usually the same as waxing, or the waxing will last longer even. It's the first time I've had an issue since I was a teen, go figure!

Idk if you have called the spa/salon but I would do that and see if they at least comp something for you. That’s not acceptable to do to a client and is bad for business. I’m sure they would want to know about what happened.

I would go to the first aid section of the pharmacy and look for healing ointments for burns and scar prevention.

I couldn't go over today and they're closed tomorrow, but yes I spend enough there that I should be able to tell them when I have a less than stellar experience. Would you recommend going immediately or waiting until it scabs, or just call? I have a very restrictive schedule that makes it hard to go in person and calling would be so much easier, but I know it's less convincing especially since the picture doesn't show how bad it is.

Use aquaphor. Do not use Neosporin or any sort of first aid or scar cream that is not made for the face. You can actually make your face break out and cause the wound to worsen. This is advice is straight from multiple dermatologists mouths that I have seen over the years. Heck, Google it if you want more proof.

I use some essential oils. I know some people don't like them but whenever I have any burn or cut I use lavender oil and burns clear up in a day or two and cuts in a few days. If you were to go this route just be careful near your eyes. And cuts on the face you're supposed to keep "wet". It prevents scarring. Vit. E, neosporin/vasaline, or aloe, etc. Hope it clears up!

In my experience you always get more face to face. If you can make the time and it is important enough in your opinion, I would get my rear on over there. In the past with waxing and over this last winter I've had instances where I can rub my forehead and it looks like it's snowing because I am SOOO dry. I've had good luck just moisturizing like crazy...like immediately after showering, in an hour when I get to work, that afternoon. Serial lotion/ It puts the lotion on it's skin crazy style! Maybe a sugar scrub (Lightly) to help remove dead skin from scab/scarring rather than an actual exfoliator? Some days I feel like a grease ball but it levels out once my skin is healed up and rejuvenated. I don't think you look bad or anything at all so hopefully you will get back to your "normal" quickly! We are always more critical of ourselves that anyone else would be! Chin up pretty girl!

I also recommend the aquaphor. I have used it for eczema break outs on my face and its the best.

Ugh this just brought up a repressed memory. This exactly happened to me and it was awful. I'm so sorry this happened to you!!!
I was alternating using neosporin and witch hazel morning and night and it cleared up nicely. I wish it was feasible to sue over this.

    Eyebrows are f@$&% important. Grrrr
    Sending you positive vibes!!
