Hi everyone! Never been out of the country so google has been my friend and isn’t giving me a clear picture. My fiancé and I just booked our honeymoon for the excellence club in Punta Cana (originally we were doing Greece but reduced against it because of what’s happening in Ukraine). Has anyone recently been to punta Cana and had issues or heard anything bad?? I know areas of DR can be sketchy but that’s just like here so idk if it’s just my imagination or actually is safe lol

We had our honeymoon at the Excellence El Carmen, and we loved it. I've been to Punta Cana several times and have never had issues. There are dangerous areas, so it's recommended to either stay on the resort grounds or go out with the organized excursions rather than on your own. Also, arrange transportation from the airport to the resort ahead of time.

We stayed at Excellence and let me tell you! You will love that resort!!! We rented the largest suite they had with the rooftop wading pools. There was 2. We love it so much that’s where we are honeymooning and having our own private ceremony there post large wedding because we originally fell in love there and that’s where we wanted to elope. But Covid prevented that. Anyways DR is wonderful and we are planning to retire there. I personally didn’t find it unsafe

As always, if you stay on the property of your resort and only do tours with large groups of people, you should be totally fine!

We just got back, had a great time! We were there for 9 days and stayed at the Majestic Colonial in their suite.
We went off property twice but with a hired guide.
