PVC Pipe Backdrop

Keisha, on August 21, 2014 at 3:39 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7

I'm trying to make my backdrop stop leaning and it won't stop. I have tried super glue, hot glue, and even tried hammering a nail to see if it would work but it wouldn't go through. Anybody have any ideas for me?? TIA

Use a drill to make a hole to nail it?

It's too top heavy and the PVC pipe that you used is not big enough in diameter. Nothing with make it stop leaning or bending unless you buy a bigger diameter pipe.

You could add supports in the middle perhaps...

Been there, done that, scratched that idea.

Have you got a picture? My FH is an engineer and really good at this stuff. There are several other engineers around here too so maybe someone could help.

I am one (with a design background), and so is my FH... we spent 4 hours trying to make ours.

Here are the two designs I came up with. The heights (10' and 8') were too high for the diameter we used. The next size up was like $5 per pipe not to mention buying the connectors. It would have cost us about $250 just for the PVC frames. Nope, nope, and nope. lol!

I concrete everything into pots or canisters LOL. When my artificial tree stand came up missing I went to Walmart and bought a live tree stand because it is like a well. I took it to a friend and he mixed the quick cement for me and shoveled it in. I placed the tree pole into it and leveled and left it to dry. About 5 hours later it was dry and was going no where LOL. I have had 2 boxers and a rottie hit that tree trying to get to the window and the tree didn't budge LOL some of the ornaments came off but the tree stood. I have used pvc pipe and concreted it before into metal coffee cans. We just covered the cans with material so they couldn't be seen. Make sure your material isn't to sheer so that you won't be able to see the pvc pipe. I didn't make that mistake but a friend of mine did. Good Luck!!!!
