Quarantine Life With Your S.o.

Jasmine, on January 11, 2021 at 3:38 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 36

Since quarantine, we've eaten out more/got food delivered and are constantly on the computer or playing video games. Luckily, we have a few streaming networks so that helps with our boredom but all in all we're both still dying on the inside. We've been at FH's parents house for so long (although fortunate to save money for the wedding). Since we had just recently postponed our wedding until further notice, we are now actively looking to get our own place again. We basically confine ourselves to our room and office space and we do what we can outside the house because dealing with his parents there's just so much tension and awkwardness.

How is your life together during quarantine going?? Better than you expected, worse or 50/50??

Its been amazing for my husband and I, we love spending time together (but we did this before covid as well). The main thing that we don't like is that we couldn't take any of our normal trips that we take. We are used to taking about 3-4 trips to different states/countries a year so we definitely miss that. Otherwise we've been enjoying our time with each other.

You know what, i never used to watch anything. so when the pandemic happened that's when we started netflix and watching shows and what not. so that's been something new we have been doing together.

another thing is i NEVER cooked before the pandemic. that's because we tended to eat out more and to go over to my parents house more but with the pandemic that has been limited so we started to cook

That's pretty cool. Unfortunate you have to miss out on your trips. I hope this lets up so people can get back to what they love! Good to hear everything is well. Continue to stay safe!

Wow. Well welcome to world of streaming lol. Are there any shows/movies that are or have become your favorite since Netflix??

I know we definitely would have taken up cooking but we won't do that until we get our place again. What foods do you like to cook??

We do this thing where we take turns choosing a series to watch. honestly i haven't much liked his picks LOL. so this also shows that we have very differing tastes in things.

Vacations always sound so lovely and we would love to do them but even before covid it was pretty hard for us. We would just try and at least do something local or go to CA to see my family. That was as vacation as it got for us lol.

LOL I feel the same way! We do the same thing. He's always on his phone regardless so I feel like I just watch everything on my own.

Ugh, I miss quarantine. Back in March, I got to work from home from then until June. Since June, I've been working in the office as well as FH. Though our little time working at home together was actually really nice! We did lots of Zoom Happy Hours with friends, had take out dates, and binged lots of TV.

Omg that actually sounds like so much fun. I would actually love to go back to work though. We're so over this.

It's better for us bc I see him more since we both work from home. We don't live together so it's nice to spend 1 or 2 weeks at his place and vise versa.

Its been better than we expected. I worked from home from March - June, he was let go from March - August. When I had Covid in August, it was hectic and scary but we made our way through it. We've gotten closer as a couple and parents since we quarantined with our sons. Even now that I'm back in the office and he stays at home during the week and works weekends (our older son is doing virtual schooling), we have this stronger bond. We binge watch more shows and movies, enjoy music more and just communicate better as a family. We made the best of the situation.

My FH and I thrived together in quarantine, and we were in a place where we were restricted to our apartment 24/7 for three months except to get groceries. We coexist really well, and it was actually when we began talking seriously about getting married! We started cooking together a lot, did puzzles, binged shows. The time felt slow, but looking back on it now, I think of it as having been a unique chance to really focus on each other and what we both wanted.

Honestly our lives haven’t changed much. I worked from home most of the time since March. And he drives a truck so is essential and works 6 days a week.
We’ve definitely increased the amount of time we spend home, and i cook a little more. But, we still enjoy dinner out once a week and try and do little getaway/fun activities outside of the house to make the most of our time together.

I feel guilty a but because it has been WONDERFUL. Our situation is unique in that we have the top floor of the building to ourselves - it’s two apartments so we each have our own space but we (and the cats) go between them all day long. He has always worked from home, and I am incredibly fortunate that my job can be done from home if I go in once in a while.
We’ve really grown closer. We go for early morning walks, stop in to each other’s work areas to smile at each other. I’m amazed that the enforced closeness has worked out so well.

Overall, it’s gone better than expected! Even though he’s been furloughed, when I worked from home for a few months getting weekends PLUS weekday time together was awesome. 👍 We did sometimes get testy with SO much time together, especially while I worked & he did house DIY. 👎 He did cook, clean & grocery shop a lot more. 👍

We do need more walks together. The fresh air & exercise help.

My husband and I are both essential workers, so we're out (well, I am 4 days a week and he is 5-6) working. There was a few weeks at the beginning of lockdown where we were both home for about 2 weeks straight and we started going stir crazy. We watched a lot of tv, and that's about it. So it's going about how it was before. We miss seeing our friends though. We don't see a lot of people, especially since some of our friends are not as cautious as we are (I work with high risk individuals).

That's wonderful to hear! Glad you overcame covid. My FH can't binge anything to save his life lol.
