Question about rsvp

Missy, on September 26, 2019 at 4:00 PM Posted in Account Support 0 4

Does anyone know if you can have guests RSVP first and then add their meal preference at a later point? We are wanting to allow guests to RSVP earlier, and then we want to wait until we do our tastings closer to our wedding to add the appropriate meal preferences. Hope that makes sense - thanks!

If it's too early to make your meal selections, it's too early to ask your guests to RSVP. To answer your question, no, the website doesn't have this functionality.

I wouldn’t recommend this method. We didn’t open up our online RSVPs until invites went out and I’m so glad we did it that way. We had people verbally tell us they could attend when they received the save the date and ended up not being able to make it as well as vice versa. It would’ve been a headache to have to follow up with all those people or have an inaccurate count.

Not without chasing people down. People won’t come back to change their answers on their own — you’ll have to reach out to everyone individually to get an answer. How late are you planning on doing your tasting ? Invites usually don’t go out until about 8 weeks before the event— most people have their menu details settled by then, additionally, asking for RSVPs any earlier than that usually backfires (people don’t/won’t/can’t answer do far out...and if they do, they’re liable and likely to change their answers closer to the wedding ....so any earlier than 12 weeks out is really too early to send invites out & expect a response).

If your venue for some reason does not allow you to do tastings til after 8 weeks before the wedding, the options are : picking proteins that you know you’ll commit to, and having guests choose from just that (ie beef or fish , but no details) OR see If your venue can do tableside ordering (where no one prepicks, and the venue sends a server around to each table to see what everyone wants once they’re seated — usually picking from 2-3 options listed on a menu at their seat)

Not unless you want to reach out individually to all your guests after they RSVP. Or if the venue allows them to order on the spot.
