Question...do you tip the venue staff?

Fia, on September 10, 2019 at 12:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hello Fellow WW,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this topic. So I'm reviewing my Banquet Event Info and am reading a sentence stating that the the service fee is not a tip. Our venue is all inclusive so I was under the impression the staff would be taken care of from the price. Since I have now read this, I feel like we need to tip them. But who exactly do I tip? The event person who leaves once dinner is served? Or do we tip everyone individually? Help!
P.S. I know to tip the photographer and DJ. Lol!

I would give the tip to the coordinator and have them split it among the staff.

I used an inclusive venue. I gave my FIL an envelope with cash and told him to tip all venue staff. I asked the venue beforehand how many servers, bartenders and other staff they would have on site. I believe we tipped each person 30 dollars. I did not tip the venue coordinator because she did not earn one. Had she been a decent coordinator, I would have tipped her at least 50 dollars up to 100. My guests also puts tips in the bartenders jar.

We're going to get a number of servers and bartenders beforehand and prep an envelope with $20 each. I'm going to be sure that my parents leave the envelope with the DOC. Since we've already had staff changes with our DOC once, I'm not sure who we're going to have in December.

    Hi Fia!

If your contract explicitly states that a service charge is not included, you will have to tip the staff who will be working at your wedding. Would it be possible to ask your venue how many staff members typically work a wedding of your size so that you can be prepared and know roughly how much money you will need to set aside for tips? Then closer to your date, you will be able to ask for an exact number of staff members to ensure everyone is accounted for.

My contract states the price per person is inclusive of taxes and service charge. But there is a sentence in the paragraph before the signature line that states tip is not included in the price. So I was and still am a bit confused. I will he meeting with the event coordinator early next month so I will ask then. Thank you!
