Question for anyone buying your own tablecloths

Jessica, on July 29, 2014 at 11:58 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

So a question for ladies buying their tablecloths instead of renting or anyone who has already done it.

What did you do or what are you going to do to get them ready for the day of? Mine all need to be ironed but there is no way we will have time to do them the day of. How far in advance can we iron them without them getting wrinkled again when we fold them up? Or is that even possible? I have 30 tablecloths and 200 chair covers that we will need to iron then transport to the venue. We don't have access to the venue until 12:00 and the ceremony starts at 5:00 at the same location. Is there an easy way to do this? What did you all do?

If they can go in the dryer try doing that. It might be able to take the wrinkles out.

We bought chair covers and they were wrinkled. I didn't care. I wasn't about to iron them or ask anyone to do it, so they stayed wrinkled and you know what? We had a happy day, nobody died, and if anyone noticed the wrinkled chair covers, they didn't say a word.

Our venue provided unwrinkled table cloths but if they hadn't I wouldn't have cared. I was a member of the IDGAF Club. Perhaps you can join? If there are only 30, maybe iron them or steam them the night before if you have time. If not? Let it go. It will add to the charm.

Here's a pic showing our wrinkled chair covers. IDGAF.

I wouldn't worry about it. Possibly put them in the dryer the morning of to work out the wrinkles if there are any left after ironing them beforehand. You can also get some type of spray that helps keep wrinkles out.

@LivelyBride, your ceremony must have been so romantic. GORGEOUS!

I'm in the same boat. I bought my table clothes but they are still in the packaging in the box and will be there until it is time for me to put them on the tables. I'm not ironing anything. I might put them in the dryer since our wedding is at our house but I'm not going to stress over it. I'm with LivelyBride!!!

Mine are like a cotton/polyester blend. If you set them up a day or two ahead of time, all of the wrinkles will fall out. We're setting up on Thursday for a Saturday wedding so we should be just fine.

I bought some off of a girlfriend who set up at the same times I am. Her linens had no wrinkles on the day of the wedding.

I should probably take them out of the box and see just how wrinkled they are. The dryer thing just might work! If they are not too bad then I'm with you all. My mom is paranoid about it but if it's a big issue for her then she can work it out Smiley smile Thanks ladies!

I love the dryer idea. That should work for the tablecloths. Forget the chair covers. People sit on them and nobody will notice.

Unfortunately I can't set them up until 5 hours before the ceremony starts. Mine are also a cotton/polyester blend. Maybe if someone has a round table we can just layer them all on one so the wrinkles will fall out ahead of time. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have left mine in the plastic they came in... I have not even taken them out. My mom said something about trying to take her steamer with us to the venue and see if that will help with the crease from being folded... If it doesn't and guest have an issue with it (which I know they won't) I dare them to say something to me lol

Exactly, Kelly! If someone attends a wedding and says out loud "OMG, looked at all these wrinkles!" that person is a butthead and will have a very wrinkled face (eventually if not now) because they are so miserable they can't see the beauty of happy moments.

Jessica, go forth and have a fabulous wedding. I like the idea of putting all the cloths on one table. It will be ok.

This is true! Thanks Livelybride! I think my mom being paranoid about it has just rubbed off on me. I'm joining the IDGAF club! People will get over it if they even notice. Smiley smile

I asked our caterer because we are also doing our own linens. They said you can get them a little damp (or leave them a little wet if you washed them)? and set them on the tables damp. They then supposedly dry wrinkle free.

I'm not sure if we're going to try that or steaming them with a hand steamer...my wedding is before yours so if I remember I'll let you know how it goes!

I just have organza overlays that are folded (arrived in a box) and I plan to iron them anytime now (for my Sept wedding) and then roll them.

    Thanks KayRay!

@ LadyMonk I like the rolling idea! That might be a good idea for the chair covers, thanks!

Hello. I am curious where did everyone buy their linens at. I am newly engaged, my wedding isn't until next summer, but I am still looking around at everything to see what the prices are so i can prepare and figure out a budget. Thanks!!

I got a steamer to steam them as we put them on the tables. Fortunately we'll have access to the venue two days before the wedding (this Saturday!!!).

    Edited for typo

@Stephanie - I bought mine off linentablecloth.com at their Black Friday sale (it was like 40% off and free shipping or something).

Linentablecloth.com was the cheapest I found! I got 120 inch round for $8.79 each.
