What kind of furniture? Like an end table or a sectional sofa? I think it really depends on the price point.

I did. I put a coffee table and end tables. I have a registry on Wayfair, which allows for multiple people to contribute to gifts. Also, the lists on Wayfair, BBB, etc. all have furniture in their suggested registry lists.

Put whatever you want/need! It’s your registry to do with what you want. Even if it is on the more expensive end, most registries allow you to have guest split the cost of the gift.

A $1,500 sectional sofa. Probably ok.

A 2 million dollar hand carved cabinet with encrusted diamonds? Steer clear.

I put a coffee table on ours ($199), an end table ($50) and a bar cart ($99) on ours. I tried to keep the price low. If you have a large ticket item, see if your registry allows for people to group gift. For example, Zola allows for multiple people to gift you money towards the purchase of the item.

Furniture is acceptable. I've seen a mattress on a registry which I thought to myself was a little odd....But normal non-mattress furniture sounds fine by me.

We put smaller pieces such as lamps and cabinets for the bathrooms.

I have not added furniture, but I think it would be fine to do. People are happy to buy you things you want!
