Amanda, on December 29, 2019 at 8:50 PM Posted in Planning 1 6
Going to look at our first venue option in a couple weeks and want to be prepared. What have you found are the best questions to come prepared with!?

Thanks in advance!!

    I would definitely ask about the following;

    - what’s included (tables, chairs, lighting, etc)
    - if a day of insurance policy is required - time allowed on the property (our venue allows us to come the day prior for set up and rehearsal)- parking/transportation (if you’re looking to have a shuttle drop off guests)- handicap accessibility - payment schedule structure - if your desired date is available & when they suggest you book
    I’m sure there’s many more that I’m missing that some of the pro’s on here can help you with.
    Good luck!! Venue searching was super fun for my fiancé and I! I hope you two enjoy it as well.

    We are currently venue searching as well, and some of the questions we’ve been asking include how they accept payment (some places ONLY accept bank checks for last payments, some places accept cards but it ends up costing more because they charge a fee, and some places only want cash or check), if they have options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies, if the food list is customizable or if they stick with the menu they gave us, what’s included in their package (some places we’ve gone to include a DJ, flowers, and other perks while others don’t), and if there is a rehearsal the night before included.

    I'd ask how many people can COMFORTABLY fit in the space. They'll say "our max capacity is 200" but in reality if you put that many people in the venue there is no room for anything else (dancefloor, walking, dj, etc). Ask what their rules are regarding security. My venue automatically brings in two off duty police officers as security but I have to pay them separately... I also found out after the fact I can't have alcohol onsite unless the security guards are there. I'm not paying them to be there for the entire day so getting ready mimosas are a no no. See what the policy is on alcohol. Last thing I'd check on is the parking situation. A lot of the places we went to didn't have sufficient parking for the venues "max capacity". This would probably require you to get transportation. Also see if cars can be left over night.
