Quick Comment of excitement!

Cydney J (Cydney M), on September 12, 2011 at 4:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

I was just reviewing my budget on how much I originally budgeted things for and how much it came out to be...and I must say...I'm super excited that I save over $150 on what I originally was planning on spending for my favors!! I realize they have been taking me a million years to make (or at least that's what it seems like...hehe) but I love that we saved that much money!! YAY

What have you saved the most on based on what you originally budgeted for?

My FH's suit for the wedding!!!
My dad was buying a suit for himself and the salesman in the shop told him that the following week, they were going to have a sale (buy one full price suit, get another for $100). The salesman put my dad's suit on hold and we all went back the following week. We got my FH a $600 suit for $100!!!!!!!!

Awesome KM! We got my FH's tux for free b/c we had enough guys renting them. That was a pretty nice save, but no $500 save! NICE!

Cydney....That's outstanding. $150 is a lot of money to shave from the budget. Good job!

KM...Congrats! That was an awesome score.

I saved at least $85 on centerpieces, a bride from a wedding at the hotel I work didn't want her centerpieces afterwards and since they're the exact same as I'm using, she let me have all of them! Tall, medium and small glass cylinders, a huge bag of clear stones, floating tea lights for the top of the cylinders and about 30 votive candles!

    Free is VERY nice! haha

We are having a DW so we had to actually buy FH's suit and the groomsmen will be buying their outfits too (just grey pants and a white collared shirt). Renting isn't an option for us since we are all travelling to the Dominican.

My dress! I was definitely budgeting to spend the most of my money on my dress, but I was hoping to keep it reasonable and then I fell in love with an incredible couture gown, but the owner of the store said if I bought it that day (had to be the sample) that I could get it for $1000 instead of $4000! It needs a LOT of alterations but the alterations lady I went to said it will turn out great Smiley smile

My greatest save so far was my invitations, I am DIY as much as possible, so I was excited when I found mine for less then $100.

KM...I'm super jealous of you! I really wanted to do a DW!!! It feels like things would have been a million times easier...but, it means more to me to have my grams there and she can't travel.

Our cake! I had priced them out a few local places and found that a cake will cost around $400-500. That's pretty normal I'm finding out. But we got a 16 inch round cake this weekend for our E-Party from Stater Bros. for $30 and it was A-Mazing! Everybody loved it! It was covered in white choc curls and tasted soooo good. So we inquired about their 3 tiered caked. They can do a 3 tier cake for 150 people for under $200. I will add the flowers myself! That's a deal! FH is stoked!!

Oh & the singer for the band we hired offered to MC the reception & play the songs I want during dinner & our first dance, etc. so I do not have to hire a DJ! Yay! That saved at least $500!

So that's a total of approx $800! Really happy about saving $$$

Plates/silverware, I ended up buying for .26/piece vs renting at a minimum of .47/piece with 100 guests and 14 pieces between plates, coffee cups and silverware I've save almost $300 AND I can sell them post-wedding. =)

I'd say invitations as well - I needed to send a total of 105 and received some of the most insaine quotes. Decided to go with the Seal and Send kind - figuring everyone throws them away anyways. We had budgeted $500, with postage for invite and RSVP we spent a total of $175.00!!!! AND everyone adored the Seal and Send.
