Quilt guest book advice and DIY projects

Meghan M., on July 19, 2010 at 9:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

My mom and I have been working like crazy trying to finish everything for my wedding in 12 days!!! For those of you doing quilts for your guest book: It takes a long time to put the squares together. Start on it as early as possible so when you get bored of it you can quit for a couple days. Make sure you put the strips (frame) around the square that you want signed so that way the guests know exactly where to write. IF you dont have it framed out then they will write across the whole thing and when you go to sew it together you may cut off part of their note.

Pictures:

1. Quilt Squares (my colors are actually green, pink and orange. but I really didn't want that color quilt in my living room, so I just did green and brown for the quilt)

2. Note for the OOT bags (I stole that poem from someone on here...thanks!)

3. My table numbers! (they aren't done yet. That's todays task. But the horse will also have a name on it. (I have pulled out all the "S" horses)

    I love all of them. My Fav is the Wine Glass, you're mom has a perfect hand for painting, thats for sure!

    I wanted to do something "Fun" for the best book, but, I don't know if I'd have the motivation to "complete" it after the wedding. I have scrapbooks that remain unfinished because I lose interest and inspiration. LOL. I have 2 scrapbooks that are 12x12 that are identical except 1 had blank pages & one has pre-printed pages you'll write info on after the wedding when you add pictures.

    .

    I thought about getting printed paper, the size of index cards and just putting them in the scrapbook of the wedding but I don't know if there would be enough room for that :-/

    Thanks everyone! We have spent a lot of time on this stuff! I have been staying with my mom for the past 4 weeks working on this.

    .

    @Kali My parents lost their wedding album and my aunt found old pictures and made a scrap book. She only did a few pages and then my mom was supposed to find her old pics and finish it...lets just say the scrapbook still sits undone...

    .

    When I went to get the fabric I started talking to some random person in the fabric store about which ones to get and what looks good. And this person wrote out everything for me. How big to make each strip and square. She gave me her number and told me that she would make them for me. When I was ready to call her to do it I realized that the paper was in my purse that had been stolen, so now me and my mom did it. I think we are going to hire someone to put it together because it is such a pain! I live in the "Quilting Capital of the World"

    .

    @rochelle: yes they are gifts.

    Looks great!!! We have talked about making a quilt.. by "we" I really mean me. lol I've made a few in the past, but I never thought about making a border--- very clever idea!! If we do end up making a quilt I will definitely do that too. Thank you! Smiley smile

    And it's DEFINITELY a pain to match everything up perfectly when quilting! But the end result looks so good!!!
