Rain on Engagement Photos

Breana, on November 4, 2020 at 8:52 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10

Hi all, my fiance and I are supposed to do our engagement photos this Saturday in Temecula and of course the forecast calls for rain and 50 degree weather. The photographer said she is available in two weeks which works for us however there is a possibility we are going out of town. She said it would ultimately be up to me. I don't mind rain personally but I don't want to make things harder for everyone but at the same I really want to get my photos done! I am so indecisive.

You could always get some cute umbrellas and do some images in the rain, and then do other pictures indoors somewhere! Maybe at a cute cafe or an ice rink or somewhere?

I agree with this. Have a back-up plan.

We had a very similar experience! We knew it might rain on the morning of our engagement session, but we moved forward anyway because the forecast showed that hour would be ok and we would miss the actual rain. Which we did for the most part - but what I had not considered was the pre-rain moisture in the air that absolutely did a number on my hair. My hair frizzed out and blew up pretty quickly, so I ended up disappointed with a lot of the photos. Definitely something to think about if you have hair that will be impacted by moisture/humidity, even if it isn't technically raining.

Thank you, yes ! It seems like my photographer works mostly outside but I'll do some research on some places. Thank you!

I would reschedule. I had to reschedule my own engagement shoot because it was overcast and my photographer usually does her shoots with the sun setting for the warm lighting. She suggested that since a date for engagement photos is flexible, it’s better to choose a day with good lighting (unlike a wedding date, can’t change date just for the weather). And since I’m paying so much, I want them to turn out good.

We had to reschedule once due to rain and then thought about rescheduling again due to high winds and freezing temperatures. But our photographer wasn’t available for a few weeks and it’s only getting colder so she suggested a greenhouse/plant nursery nearby! It turned out to be such a lovely spot with natural lighting coming in, really warm inside, and we got to bring our dogs. It wasn’t the shoot I pictured originally but I think it really worked out, so I recommend looking into indoor places like that!

When your handed lemons make lemonade. If rescheduling is going to be a nuisance for you make it a romantic rainfall Photoshoot. Any great photographer can do magic with either environment. Just like the movies 🤗

Do you have to go out of town? If not, I would reschedule.

Thank you everyone! We ended up rescheduling, the photographer is a friend who didn't seem very confident about the rain so we ended up rescheduling. Thank you all for the advice! Now I kind of WANT to do a rain shoot lol.
