Rain on Wedding Day

Jennifer, on October 2, 2020 at 8:01 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
Good morning everyone! Wedding day is tomorrow 10/3/2020❤👰🤵 I can't believe it's almost here!!

There is a 40% chance of scattered rain showers in the afternoon, which is when we are doing our first look, wedding party photos, and couple photos. All of these are planned to be outside since it has been forecasted 0-10% chance of rain for tomorrow for the last 14 days until it changed this morning.

I know rain isn't the end of the world by any means and it will still be a beautiful day, but we can't spend the whole afternoon trying to time our photos around the rain. I'm trying not to have a soaked and muddy dress since our photos are pre-ceremony. There really aren't any pretty indoor areas to take our photos around here.
We have a clear umbrella and my bridesmaids will help carry the train of my dress. The forecasted high temperature is 54° (not atypical for a fall day in the Midwest)
We don't have any room to move the photos to be after our ceremony since we have a 5pm ceremony, are doing family photos after, and have a half an hour drive to the reception site.We also don't get access to our ceremony venue until 4pm tomorrow.
Do you have any other tips to try making photos in the rain work to keep me mostly dry for the ceremony?

Is there any coverings that you could get under to take some pictures? I would also suggest cutting back on some of the family photos after the ceremony and give yourself more time for the photos that you want (that is if there is no other solutions).

Also I wouldn't worry about the "prettiness" of indoor areas since you and your husband will be the focus of the pictures (and whoever else will be in the pics)

Talk to your photographer. I am in Florida and rain is an ongoing surprise throughout the year. I know I asked my photographers about that and some do carry clear umbrellas for cute pics but I would honestly have an inside back up plan just in case. I would not worry about light rain but the muddy dress yes.

Hi Jennifer! I think a clear umbrella and someone to help carry your train is a great idea if it isn't raining too hard, but I'd also see if you can scout out some backup indoor photo locations or plan for some pictures at your ceremony venue from 4-4:30 if it's raining too much!

We were supposed to take all of our wedding pictures outside but got surprised by Hurricane Matthew - which also meant there weren't enough clear umbrellas in the world to help us out! We did our first look, bridal party and family photos in the lobby of our venue and also took some extra couples portraits in the church after the ceremony. Our photographer did an awesome job getting some amazing pictures in a crazy situation!
