View Quoted Comment That's exactly where we were. We were at 9 years and I told him if he hasn't proposed by the 10 year mark that I would be very disappointed. He had some silly excuses like he wants a big wedding and we can't afford it. He can't afford a big ring, etc. I told him none of that matters because it's the marriage that's most important and it's important he show his commitment to me in the eyes of everyone else. It's weird of me to still be his girlfriend after almost a decade and a 6 year old son lol. He calls me his wife to everyone so it was way past time. I didn't beg. I wouldn't propose. But I did say it's been waaaay too long and I want to look young in my wedding photos lol. He randomly surprised me one weekend taking me up to a bridge over the Ohio River that I walk often. He hates walking because he works so hard every day. He really went out of his way and now he's super excited for the wedding too! We are getting married 5 months after the engagement! Everything is paid for already and it's finally happening! I definitely wouldn't be rude and pushy about it with door mats and social media call outs lol. That would make me feel like it was forced. Years of Meaningful conversation eventually did it and it's way past time so I don't feel bad for bringing it up. I think it's definitely a situational thing that decides whether it's weird or not.
