Rant: Is anyone else sick of the phrase "Marry my best friend?"

I swear I have been seeing this DAILY on facebook. It's so overused and it's gotten to the point that I cringe a little when I see it haha "I can't wait to marry my best friend!" "X days until I marry my best friend!" "Today I marry my best friend!" "1 year ago I married my best friend!" I get the...

"I can't wait to marry my best friend!"

"X days until I marry my best friend!"

"Today I marry my best friend!"

"1 year ago I married my best friend!"

I get the sentiment. My husband is my best friend as well, but ugh, lets get a little more creative people instead of saying the same thing over and over again

I agree with Pan. My hubby is my best friend, I definitely realized that when we were on a break a few years ago, he was always the first one I wanted to tell things to, hang out with, etc. But I don't find the necessity in saying that all the time. Obviously we are way more than friends too.

The most annoying over used phrase I'm hearing is "the wedding went off without a hitch!". Ugh, isn't the whole point that you got hitched?

LadyHopkins and Serenity, you're not alone. DH is my best friend. We were platonic for a long time before we got together. I laugh with him like no one else. We talk about everything. I don't think it's putting him on the same level as my friends. I think it's about the two sides to a marriage, because I agree friendship needs to exist in a relationship for it to last. He's my best friend, and the man I love and want babies with. Love alone does not make a relationship work.

4 days till I marry my significant other? Doesn't sound as exciting. Being on ww we all hear the same phrases a lot, so it can get annoying. I can tell you that If I never hear the term furbaby again I wouldn't mind. Smiley smile I always picture a furry baby that should be featured on discovery channel.

I agree it's overused. I haven't used it...ever. I, like some other ladies, feel that my best friend is my moh. The two of us girls have literally been together since the very first HOUR of kindergarten lol. However, I can understand the ladies who do prefer to use the phrase. Everyone's relationships are different...one person may honestly be marrying her best friend, someone else may be marrying the one person she's been able to be truly open with or passionate with or whatever else with.

My Joshua, who serves as a police officer, often refers to me as his "half unit". Not because he believes I'm "below him" or "only half as important as him"...but because we are each other's partner...equals. (sometimes, yes, "partners in crime" with some of the mischief we get into lol)

I refer to FH as my 'almost husband'. I just think it is weird to say fiance, sounds pretentious to me(silly, I know) He is definitely my partner in crime and I am totally stealing the phrase 'ultimate booty call' so love that lol

I also hate baby bump. I think it sounds very childish, especially when you are referring to such an adult event.

Pan, I miss it too. I didn't even realize that it was you posting until someone referred to your post. Then I had to scroll back and find which one it was lol.

Stop making me work for my Pan-isms!

Oh Pan, there you are!!!! Hi!!! Smiley smile

H is my favorite person. Not exactly my best friend. If he was my best friend, who would I call when I need to complain about his family? That's why you need a best friend! lol.

I think pretty much any phrase becomes gag-worthy when it starts showing up regularly on FB statuses. Smiley smile

I hate the best friend thing too. Best friends are constantly changing. How many have you had since 2nd grade?
