Rant: Is anyone else sick of the phrase "Marry my best friend?"

I swear I have been seeing this DAILY on facebook. It's so overused and it's gotten to the point that I cringe a little when I see it haha "I can't wait to marry my best friend!" "X days until I marry my best friend!" "Today I marry my best friend!" "1 year ago I married my best friend!" I get the...

"I can't wait to marry my best friend!"

"X days until I marry my best friend!"

"Today I marry my best friend!"

"1 year ago I married my best friend!"

I get the sentiment. My husband is my best friend as well, but ugh, lets get a little more creative people instead of saying the same thing over and over again

This one is tough for me! I have never actually said it because I agree, it is just so cliche now... but Jordan and I were literally best friends all throughout high school (the kind that hung out every night after school and told each other everything). After high school is when we started dating so technically I really did marry my best friend.. but that is the only time you will hear me use that sentence! haha

I don't know what I hate more, all the 'special day" stuff or the 'best friend' stuff, lol. World domination; Pinky and Brain! (I actually got a chance to pronounce a couple that!)

I hate when people say "wifey" or "old lady". Someone refered to me as my FH "old lady" the other lady and he just laughed. I'm 26, its a dumb phrase, its demaning and obnoxious...I could go on. And I HATE when I see people on facebook saying they are having fun doing wifey things...I agree with the baby bump and actually most of the terms used here. In general I think people through "Best friend" around too much too....divorce rate is crazy so obviously someone is NOT being a good BEST FRIEND lol. ok mini rant over

He was my best friend before we dated and even though he still is, he's my rock, my sanity and I'm his motivation. Or he's my adult child...some days more than others lol

Smiley sad I use that phrase. We call eachother best friend as a term of endearment when we are being silly together.

When I posted my engagement on Facebook I said, "Best day of my life thus far, I get to spend the rest of my days with the best friend I've ever had and the love of my life."

Now I will say, that's ALL I have posted about getting married. No countdown here.

I do love the phrase preggers. I dont like wifey, but will so use hubby (double standard?)

I think "married my best friend" works for those who truly feel that way. It is so wonderful to read how many of you started your relationship based on friendship! It really is beautiful like that. But not everyone became friends/best friends w/FH before dating. Me & FH for instance, went from talking on myspace for a wk, to meeting in person 1st date, to full on dating & sex within a month. IMO he totally could become my bestie, maybe even by the time we really get married. But only 2 1/2yrs of knowing each other, we are just now really learning to build that friendship within our relationship. Instead of building it before we got serious, we jumped the gun. Thus why it's hard to see him that way. On the other hand, he certainly IS the love of my life, my soulmate, & the best lover I've had!

YOLO, # thing on Facebook, pictures of food, and a play by play of someone's day. Those bother me. I should delete my Facebook. All of those things are Facebook. Nah...

I kept seeing that phrase so a couple of days ago I asked my "best lady friend" if her hubby was her best friend. I tell FH everything just like I tell her but it's different. So we both said that we were best girlfriends but I had the best FH for me and she had the best husband for her.

Thank you thank you thank you for saying this!!! My FH and I always crack up when people say this! FH is 42 years old and has been friends with his best friends since grade school. My girlfriends are my best friends. He is going to be my HUSBAND. We weren't friends before we started dating..we met and fell in love. It's almost like a funny inside joke between us! The other 3 words people over use way too much that we laugh at:

    -AMAZING

    -journey

    -vulnerable. UGH.

Nothing made me happier than seeing this post this morning! But.. if you are actually marrying your best friend from childhood... then I see using this phrase because it's actually true!
