Rapid testing approved!!!!!!!

Dj Tanner, on January 25, 2021 at 9:02 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 9

This post is only for people that wish to get more information about rapid testing.

If you’re against rapid testing, I think it’s a bad idea, don’t bother responding. Are doctors and scientists think otherwise.
With that said... The improved rapid testing has now been approved for a trial run for our state! All of this constant back-and-forth with our state has finally paid off! We may finally have a shot at having a semi-normal wedding. Many of the restrictions will still be in place, but at least this gives us a chance to have safe socially distanced dancing outside, cocktail hour, and standing wedding!
Many of us brides have worked so hard to make this happen including many of our vendors! Hoping and praying that everything works out!

Yeah, I mean none of our grandparents will be able to attend anyhow and that will be virtual. Regardless of Covid, they live in a different state so they wouldn’t have been able to travel I think regardless. Virtual is definitely the best option for them. There will still be a lot of restrictions and socially distance measures in place obviously, but at least this gives us the opportunity to be able to have safe dancing outside socially distanced. Be able to stand outside and not have to sit for six hours etc.
We reached out to our state as well as other couples have and as well as our wedding vendors to try to make this happen and to try to present a safe idea that our state would approve. We just feel like this is a small victory in hopes of getting back to normalcy

I think that’s great things are advancing, and truly hope they continue to! That being said, I would not completely rely upon the results of rapid tests at this point, as they are not as accurate. My best friend just had 3 rapid tests done last week, and despite being ill she tested negative on each one. After the 3rd negative she went to the hospital (just hours later) and tested positive for covid-19. Hopefully they make advancements and the tests become more accurate! I just think it’s important to know the limitations of such tests and not have a false sense of security that could put people at risk.

Sorry about your friend. Lab results usually don’t take as little as three hours so that’s good that they were able to catch it quickly at the hospital.

I think with all the other precautions and safety measures that will be in place, it’s going to actually be much safer than weddings that are happening now which have no testing. Especially at my venue. Plus I think more people may get the vaccine by that point so there’s no doubt in my mind that my wedding will be a safe event. But thanks for reaching out

Absolutely, it sounds like you are taking all the necessary precautions! My comment was really just for other people reading this... there are a lot of people who don’t really take the virus or precautions seriously, and may place all their confidence in a rapid test that isn’t as effective as regular testing. But, I think if you combine rapid testing with all the other precautions you’re taking, that is awesome!

Apparently, once it is in the lungs it is undetectable (or mostly so). Happy your friend was able to get help. One man here was in a coma for over a week after 3 negative tests.

Was there a follow up for this "Mock Wedding", like how did the testing go, and did any guidelines for events/weddings actually change as a result of this?

Super interesting idea, and I really hope this helps open events up!

It’s a very slow process. Massachusetts is already allowing dancing without testing starting end of March. They will be testing at every wedding in RI I believe starting April? However if they still don’t allow dancing I will refuse to have any sort of testing at my wedding. The trade-off is testing for dancing. If there is no trade-off then there is no way in hell I am going to test my guests.
I’ve been speaking with the state however, and they feel positive that by June there will be dancing… But who knows. They’ve also said a lot of things that never happened. Its RI haha
