Raw footage

Is raw footage worth the additional price for videography?

Daughter received 6 hours of raw footage and a 6.5 minute highlight reel. Both are awesome. The highlight reel is great for a quick overview and sharing with others. However, because of licensing issues, daughter's highlight reel has a background music track (with their vows, etc. overlaid). But, their six hours of raw footage is AWESOME! It includes conversations, the actual music played by the DJ, all of the speeches, etc. In addition, it's so much fun to watch most of the day play out in real time. Are their many people who will watch the full 6 hours? NO, but it was very worthwhile!

Raw footage is great if you plan to get all of the footage that isn't in your video. I already requested for all the raw footage and photographs because I plan on making my own video and editing my own photographs if I'm unhappy with what I receive.

It depends a little on whether you are a home video kind of person! My FH loves to make videos and watch them later, so it was really imporatant to him to have raw footage and I know he will be happy, although I coudn't have cared less about the raw footage myself.

    Hey DeLarrah!

Whether or not it’s worth it will vary from couple to couple and the value you place on having this footage. Personally, I would want to have it! I’m not good at film editing but I’m sure in years to come I would get some joy from going back and viewing it all.

How do you and your FS feel about paying the extra to have it?

The copy we used gives us a year to decide if we want the raw footage or not. Originally we said we'd wait to see the video and if I wasn't happy with it or any changes made, then we'd purchase the raw footage to create a different video. (i do video for a career...) But then the day of my wedding I found out I was pregnant and I told my husband after the ceremony and the videographer recorded it, so we are definitely buying the raw footage now! I want that memory, but wasn't too keen on having it as part of our wedding video as it is two separate moments.

I think so! That's what we requested from our videographer to save money. It's a great way to cut down on costs but still have video
