My husband and I started planning about a month after the engagement and had 11 months to get everything in order. We thought it was more than enough time so your good for 2020.

Why did you start planning before the proposal? And what specifically did you plan?

I would say roughly a month after. Had to get that venue booked before anything else!

I was on pinterest that night! I had not had a wedding board up to that day! It was all very exciting. We picked a date roughly 6 weeks after our engagement and had venue booked within 3 months of our engagement.

Surprisingly my wedding planner told me about Pinterest. I had never heard of it before I hired her but now I'm addicted to it.

I began researching almost immediately after but we didn't go visit any actual venues until 1-2 months after the proposal. This was mainly due to we got engaged in July 2017 and planning a Sept 2019 wedding so a lot of venues didn't even want to speak or visit with us until we were closer to the 2 years out mark.

I didn't know you had to be within a specific timeframe for venues to see you.

I'm not sure. Maybe It was just a coincidence that all 4 venues we were interested in had that same policy.

I've been Pinterest obsessed for years but mainly for things like recipes, home decorating, crafts for the kids, workouts, etc. I had seen the wedding things but since I was divorced a little over 8 years ago I had been pretty bitter about weddings. My FH honestly is the one who made me truly happy to be getting married and sparked my excitement for planning our big day. I was super young and rushed when I was married the first time, but have two wonderful children out of that point in my life. Wedding planning in 2006 is significantly different than wedding planning for 2020. My whole family is excited and happy for us.

He proposed over the phone. Twice. I thought he was joking until his mother come over and yelled at me. We had less than a month to plan. Time restrictions due to military.

I waited about 3 weeks to start planning. I wanted to enjoy being engaged without the stress of planning on a small budget. It was crazy to me how many people asked if we set a date in those first few weeks. Do people really already have that by then?! We didn't even set a date/pick a venue for a couple months.

I think at heart almost any girl starts to plan her wedding as soon as she goes to one or sees one on tv.

In reality after proposal though, we slowly started planning ours two weeks after getting engaged. We started to look at venues that we liked to find what the costs would be to better determine what sort of budget we would want to create for the entire event. The venue and catering usually take up most of the budget.

I found this app 2 days after I got engaged, I picked the date on the day he proposed. I'm sooooo excited, but to be honest I need all the help I can get because I have no idea what I'm doing. 😅

I started planning before he had proposed, we had talked about it for awhile. We had been together for 7 years before him asking. We will be together for 9 years once we get married. Smiley smile
