Real Candles vs Fake Candles

Connie, on August 28, 2018 at 10:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24
I love the idea of candles for my decor on the reception tables, cake and gift tables but is it tacky to have fake candles? I think some look pretty nice and it being flameless isn't a hazard so that's a plus.

No its not tacky. I am using fake at my wedding and have seen fake at other weddings. Also it is much safer :-)

I think its safer too. I am seeing a lot of nice ones online. I think I'm going to go this route too. Thanks!

Nope, not tacky. Some even flicker which looks cool. If they’re in lanterns or frosted vases/bowls you really can’t tell. Check with your venue to even see if open flames are allowed.

I understand. I'm going fake when they are far away or could lead to a disaster but real whenever I can, like at our sweetheart table and on dinner tables

Definitely not tacky. There’s lots of flameless candles that look very real.

Not tacky, much safer. If I wasn't going the fairy light route, I'd be using fake candles. I'd be worried about fires

I would totally go with fake candles if our reception wasn’t outside with a chance of mosquitos (citronella candles)!

Fake candles aren’t tacky and actually my venue will only let us use them due to the fire hazard. Also years ago I was at a wedding with real candles and let’s just say once some people have had a few drinks, it’s best to keep them away from flames Smiley laugh

It's not tacky at all, I'm using flameless candles as well. I've worked in a lot of weddings that did the same.

Not tacky at all! I am using real candles and have had 2 nightmares about accidently burning the venue down.... the candles are being used for centerpieces, however there will be several children under 12 at our wedding! But I found great deals on all of the candles and fake candles that look more realistic would've cost more Smiley sad

I did fake...5 minutes into the reception FH young cousin picked up a votive and dumped the candle on the table but since they were fake, no harm done. If you have kids at the wedding I would definitely do fake

Thank you! I've already ordered the flameless ones. I think it's a better route.

I am doing real candles because it part of the package with the venue as centerpieces. But fake candles will look really pretty too. I agree with the other comments, it’s not tacky.

My venue doesn't allow real candles so I had to start looking into fake ones and was actually really surprised. Plus, they won't burn down really low and change appearance as the night goes on!

I was thinking the same, but then realized real candles may cause a lot of heat so I may do a mixture of teacup and fake ones.
