Real flowers vs. fake flowers

Janette, on September 12, 2017 at 1:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I don't know if to have real flower centerpieces or fake flower ones. I heard fake flowers are cheaper but looking around they seem to be about the same price. I'm planning on doing them myself to save money but Idk which to do. Help!

Some of them can be just as much, if not more, than real flowers.

I'm always and forever team real flowers. Fake flowers will always look cheap to me.

Real...cuz what are you going to do with all the fake flowers after? Gather dust like they do at grandma's house?

Shop around, there are a lot of options around that people use that are more affordable (sam's club, costco, etc)

I'm doing fake. I read online that people don't focus on the flowers (and it is one of the biggest expenses.) This isn't excusing having shitty centerpieces, ours will be nice. But at least they won't cost me $3000 and die after a few days. All of mine is greenery, so I will try to incorporate it in seasonal decoration for our home so its multi purpose.

Will the flowers die if I do my centerpieces maybe 2 days before? How do you store them? I don't know much about flowers haha

Its all about preference. Silk flowers that look real can be expensive. I am doing All silk. Real red roses are darker than the red I am going for so the silk was a better match.

For centerpieces I'm using fake flowers. For bouquets I'm going to make my own with flowers from the store.

Im not doing centerpiece flowers. For our bouquets I am using silk flowers. I found a great deal on Amazon for some very pretty silk roses. We will be making the bouquets out of them. A friend who got married two years ago told me people remember two things about weddings, music and food. So I am not super stressed about flowers, if I like them and FH likes them, that is all that matters.

I contemplated this as well but I went with real and I'm so glad I did! The fake ones I liked were expensive and I don't think anything can beat the look/smell of real flowers.

We did silk flowers for the centerpieces. And probably silk for everything else due to two of my bridesmaids having moderate allergies. I have a love/hate relationship with real flowers. I really get sad when they die. lol Here are a few of my centerpieces.

I will be doing silk flowers but not to save costs. FH and I both have very bad allergies and so do many of the guests. My ceremony and reception are indoors and I don't want to irritate anyone's allergies.

I love real flowers. I know it's going to cost a lot of money but i just can't allow myself to use fake flowers on my wedding. If your budget wont be able to cover real flowers, I don't see anything wrong with using artificial flowers.
