Real or Fake Flowers?!

Marissa, on April 5, 2021 at 4:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

I can't believe how expensive flowers are!!

I'd rather do fake flower but then again...Idk what I'd do with them after!! It would be a waste of money either way!

I had decided to do fake bouquets and Boutonnieres but I'm still undecided on the other flowers I need to get.

Anyone else dealing with this kind of dilemma??

It really is a personal preference. I love flowers so I knew I wanted real flowers when we started planning our wedding. The only fake flowers we had were petals in the water fountain at our wedding. Otherwise all of our flowers were real.

I always prefer real flowers to fake ones. Real flowers are so pretty and they smell so nice. Fake flowers just look to.... well, fake. And the faux flowers that are really pretty and look real are just as expensive as real ones. If you are having a more casual wedding, I think you can probably get away with fake flowers. However, if your wedding is more formal, I suggest using real ones.

I don't care at all about flowers, so I'm renting silk bouquets from Something Borrowed Blooms. You just ship them back in a prepaid box after the wedding.

You can give the flowers, real or fake, away to your guests at the end of the night. If you’re not renting your centerpiece decors, you can allow your guests to take the whole thing. You can also try to resell or donate them. I’ve bought all the vases for my centerpieces and used real flowers and then gave them to my bridesmaids to take home if they wanted since I didn’t have a need for so many vases at home.

Real flowers were a must for me. You can look into donating them to a nursing home or hospital afterwards.

I personally would rather have fresh flowers because they are less expensive than silks, and you cannot reproduce the look and scent.

We don't have desire to keep fake flowers. Any flowers can be donated to a funeral parlor afterwards.

You can get some great, reasonably priced arrangements on fiftyflowers.com or Costco.

I’m going with rented artificial flowers from Wedding Flowers for Rent. I didn’t want to deal with making a bouquet (artificial or real), and I’m honestly scared they’d get smashed and all floppy for our elopement. Real flowers were out of the question pretty early on in our planning.
    I got a custom garland ($50), a bridesmaid bouquet ($30), a boutonnière ($7), and a custom cake cluster ($14).

For my bridal bouquet I'm doing a wooden one. For the wedding party I'll be making mine from fake silk flowers. My dilemma is actually finding flowers in my colors that go together

As I was contemplating the same question, as I researched ( At least in the NJ area) I found that fake flowers were more expensive than real. This actually made sense as fake flowers can last forever and you can then sell them after to make your money back. However, it's really your preference. I'm not opposed to fake flowers because you can actually find really nice ones that look very real. If you are still undecided, maybe have a mixture of some real and some fake. Check to see your local grocery stores, or even whole sale such as sams club or costco. Also, any local corner outside market might have some real cheap.

I love my Sola Wood Flowers. My SIL did the craftier DIY version. She and my MOH loved them and are taking them home after to hang on the wall as decoration. I adore mine and are putting them out under glass so they don’t get dusty. The rest are probably going to either be miscellaneous decorations on frames of my wedding pictures or used in mother’s day gifts lol. But they’re also biodegradable and flammable- so they might be put out in the garden or tossed in a camp fire! They’re SUPER cheap on sale- which is often lol

My SIL said it was easy to dye Sola flowers... maybe you can make a color that goes?

They’re amazing! I have a bouquet in a paint can- it was a pre-made by them a boss gave me a few years ago. They still look bright and happy! I bet you could almost do a dying party if you know crafty people!

I used fake and was very glad I did.

    1) No need to worry about allergies (my dad tends to have reactions to all flowers)

    2) Nothing wilted in the heat

    3) Could make up the centerpieces early and just... check that off the list

We do need to now give them away/sell them, but we didn't have a ton to begin with, so that helped.

I did fake all the way and skipped them for centerpieces to save money
