Real touch flowers VS buying real flowers in bulk

Chesty LaRue, on February 27, 2011 at 5:23 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

So like most budget minded brides I want to save money but I don't want to compromise too much o my vision. So at first I was set on silk flowers, but mu hubby and a friend of mine talked me out of it. They think that silk flowers are tacky and look cheap. Through research I found out about sites that sell real flowers in bulk. So I was all set to DIY, when I really started to think that so many things could possibly go wrong. I found someone who would arrange the flowers with all the supplies I have and use the flowers I ordered. That scenario sounds good but Im not sure about that either. So My question is has anybody used or will use real touch flowers? How much are you spending? How do they look?

I have two real touch bouquets, I can't decide which color I like more! But, they are lovely, can't tell they're fake from more than three feet away. I got one of the bouquets off Etsy for $70 and I DIYed the other one for $50 using supplies from afloral.com. I like the real touch flowers because you can have them as a keepsake after the wedding and they won't wilt (we're having an outdoor wedding in the middle of summer). I'm a big fan of the real touch flowers, but if you're going to have a lot of flowers, you might want to price it out both ways and see what works best for your budget.

I am doing real touch flowers for my bouquet, my FH, and my mother. i am allergic to flowers so i had no choice. the real flowers are cheaper from what i heard, that why the rest of the bridal party has real flowers.

U may want to search a wholesale market in your area because i was told calla lillies are 7.00 a stem, I went to the wholesale flower market and their are 2.99 a stem, so needless to say Im making an appt their becuase the other florist wanted 100.00 for a small table centerpiece with tulips(white) and stock (lavender)

@ beatrice hey date twin. Does the real touch flower look real and feel real? @sonja did you get the real touch or just the regular silk flowers??? How much would it cost to get them in bulk? 3 dollars a stem is still a lot. I can get real callas from sams club for less. They sell 35 stems for 56 bucks... Hmmm do I take the risk and get real flowers or do I spend more knowing that the flowers will be made weeks in advance???

I am doing a mixture of silk, real touch and natural flowers at my wedding that my planner is arranging for me.

natural tough calla lilies ( brides maids bouquets)

silk hydrangeas, rosses and peonies ( pew markers, large arrangements and ceremony decor)

natural (tulips, hydrangeas, calla lilies and roses ( centerpieces, bridal bouquet boutonnieres, corsages)

it is a challenge to mix the types of florals and still coordinate but it is possible.

Note: Naturals in bulk are always cheaper than quality silks and natural tough flowers but can take alot of preparation days or a day before the wedding. For silk flowers to look good they must be of quality and full single stem flowers i have found are the best to arrange. (i would not use silks for a bouquet, just a personal preference). I used natural touch flowers for the brides mades bouquets b/c they look more natural and beautiful than any natural flower i had seen. I say take your time search for quality and for sales (use coupons)

P.S. check your local grocery store to buy bulk flowers for cheap that dont take as much prep as say a bulk order from costco would. A great store that arranges and delivers bridal arrangements is Wegmans they are arranging all my natural arrangement for a reasonable price and are very talented at what they do.

Because of allergies, we are using silk and real touch. I caught a 50% off per stem sale. So, for my bouquet, 4 bouties and 2 wrist corsages, the total was $44. My stem jewelery was an additional $20.

My bouquet includes hydrangea, peonies, roses, greens and berries. The bouties and wrist corsages are cymidium orchids.

All of our centerpieces are 3 inch silk candle rings with amber votives, inside a pumpkin.

The only thing real will be the potted plants, pumpkins and gourds we use to decorate the base of the fire place.

If you want one less worry, go for the real touch on Etsy.

I dont know anything about flowers and i dont like flowers lol, so i did not see them in person but i trust the florist and know that she will do an amazing job because i've seen her work live before at a wedding. i'm assuming real touch look and feel very real, thats why i went this opposed to silk flowers. hope this is helpful.

I found someone who will arrange them for 300 since I am supplying the supplies and flowers but I would have to drop off everything at her business and she will deliver them that day. But wat if she doesnt finish in time??? Im just starting to get really nervous and have tons of anxiety about the day of

I think the benefits of silk flowers out weigh the benefits of real flowers.

Have you actually priced out real flowers? Florist can work around your budget. It doesn't really sound to me that silk flowers are really cheap or worth the aggravation.
