“real Touch” Peonies?

crazypants, on January 9, 2018 at 12:35 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

Okay, so I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Peonies. The problem? My florist told me they were not only expensive, but they wouldn’t last the entire day (I’m assuming it’s because of the heat, or maybe they are just too fragile?”. Anywho, I’m strongly considering mixing real touch peonies in with my other real flowers. Has anybody done this? I don’t want everything to look fake, but I really want Peonies! I did notice some garden roses and Ranunculus look very similar so I guess those are options. Why do I have to have such expensive taste??

I love peonies too, but they're a mess! My mother made a sample bouquet with silk peonies once. They looked great, and there was no concern with refridgerating or delivery but there was still no savings because she used really good stuff.
Most florists do at least some faux (no flowers in ICU) so talk to one. You're so unlikely to get exactly what you want from live flowers you're better off talking style in my mind anyway.

June is the season when peonies are in season so I'm surprised your florist doesn't want to use them then. But for my first marriage I got married in September and my florist could not get real peonies so she added some very real looking artificial peonies to my bouquet. They looked great.

Ok i definitely read this as "real touch penises" LOL

I think if you want to do a mix of both no one is going to know the difference but you. I had peonies in my bouquet and they held up just fine. Usually the ones in a bouquet aren't fully bloomed so they're more stable, but they do require a lot of water so in a June wedding they would probably start wilting.

I think doing a mix is a good, or substitute them for English Tea Roses.

I'm using real touch silk peonies for my bouquets! I love them! Ordered from afloral.com. I loved the look too, and wanted them so badly but I'm getting married in January.

You could switch to english garden roses, they're heartier and give the same feel. i LOVE peonies, they're my favorite flower.... but they dont like the heat, and June wedding plus peonies ... they probably wouldnt last all day. they have thin stems and large blooms and they cant hold water well when cut.

the picture is a little cheesy lol but you can see how similar they are. the roses, while still expensive are still cheaper so if you wanted fresh florals you could get the look with them.

I think those are peonies or garden roses in my bouquets and they held up great for me.

Ah I love peonies too. Unfortunately they will be just out of season by my wedding, so they will be expensive and probably finicky. My florist plans on including a few peonies to my bouquet for drama and then using ranunculus and garden roses for everything else. I thought that was a good compromise but I didn’t think of using real touch flowers, and am not sure if she would do that.

I love peonies, too! But they are out of season for my wedding date. My florist recommended garden roses. They look very similar!

Maybe you'd like David Austin garden roses? They're not necessarily cheap, but look similar to peonies, are more sturdy than peonies, abbr supposedly have a beautiful scent.
