Real vs Artificial Flowers

Emily, on January 17, 2018 at 8:46 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Hey y'all,

I am having a small and frugal wedding in my fiaces family's backyard. I am planning to get wholesale flowers for bouquets, but was thinking of doing artificial ones for everything else. (Backdrop, centerpieces, etc) Lots of eucalyptus garlands. Has anyone done this? What is your advice?

I'm personally doing all artificial. Simply because I feel really bad that everything gets thrown away. Artificial are also a lot cheaper than real flowers.

But in the end of the day its up to the bride & groom Smiley smile

Unless you have experience, I wouldn't recommend DIYing with real flowers. First, it's not easy work and you'd be doing it, probably for the first time, the day before your wedding. Second, if your flowers aren't sitting in water they'll need to be kept in the fridge, with temperature set for the job. This isn't a big deal if it's just a bouquet or two but more than that and it's overwhelming.
If I were in your shoes I'd be open minded looking at floral alternatives. I've been playing with a lot of ideas lately and that has really interested me.

Go for it! Some artificial flowers look amazing. There are even sure that use wood that looks like the real flower.

I did fake flowers. Owe had a small wedding ourselves. It ended up being a better price. About $60 for 4 bouquets, 4 coursages, and 6 boutenerres. The other thing I love is that I will always have it and it is in a vase in my living room.

We are ordering our flowers from Global Rose. It's very affordable and we will have all real flowers for our wedding.

Is this an afternoon or evening wedding?

The lighting would be a factor in making these decisions, I think.

Our wedding party flowers are all real, but there will be real touch fake flowers on the arch because of wilting, and Centerpieces will be a mix between real touch fake and real baby's breath/hydrangeas. The good fake flowers cost more than the real deal usually. I would recommend going heavy on the baby's breath at tables, or go with non floral centerpieces. I didn't find fake eucalyptus garland to be very cheap either.
