Really Annoyed! Cake in Face!! Really??....RANT!!!!

Mrs L, on August 31, 2011 at 11:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 99

Maybe I have no sense of humor...but FH and I were watching an episode of 4 weddings and the part with the cake in face, my FH says "I can't wait to do that!" Excuse me, he says "it's tradition!" Really, this coming from the guy who wants nothing to do with traditions....could careless about a first dance, didn't care if our bridal party was even on both sides, thinks the sand untiy ceremony is "lame!" So now he thinks we should follow some dumb a$$ cake in face "tradition! I told him if he does it I will be beyond pissed! Why should I spend money on having my makeup done so he can ruin it with cake??? Am I the only person who thinks this is a dumb tradition?

Lol, I didn't know this was a tradition. but I'm definitely skipping it, my FH would not dare to do it, you need to clearly explain how you feel about this, he should respect your wishes

First of all -- it is NOT a tradition. it is what some immature thoughtless classless idiots do at their weddings. no. absolutely not. my fiance is a pretty big prankster - and even he knows not to even think about that. you are not the only one. at all.

Ya, i'm not all about the cake in the face..although i know guests do expect it , I do lol it's kinda part of the entertainment,..but for him to do that to me, I dunno i don't even eat cake, plus I even hate when babies get it smashed up, so gross lol. but I suppose it depends on the personality of the couple..but at any rate you both need to get on the same page..i was recently at a wedding when the bride obviously did not want it and was like holding the groom's arm when he was trying and kinda warning him not to..i dunno it was like ooo couple's first fight or something lol. i found it awakward..so ya dont' do that tho. you can joke and stuff, but she was darn serious and could tell she was gettin pissed!

Oh and did I forget to mention he hates cake too! He is clueless to why I am so pissed! I told him that a friend of mine had this done to her by her groom and as of today they are divorced!....Not that it means anything so extreme but I see it as a respect thing! He just laughed and said I am "being stupid!" Here's another thought....why waste money on a classy wedding if we are gonna acts like kids and bascially "food fight" with the expensive wedding cake??

LOL @ Glenn... you sound like my FH.

I don't want a full out cake battle, but we will probably wind up smashing some cake in each other's faces. Out of love, of course.

Sorry, but I think you are being stupid, if it's something that he cares about and wants to do what's so wrong with doing it? Beat him to the punch and get him worse than he gets you. I totally am looking forward to this, this is one of the things at the wedding that I can't wait for!

Not a chance, and FH knows it. Luckily, he is mature and respectful. Plus, he agrees it's a stupid thing to do.

I didn't even know it was a tradition! i was considering, but my FH flat out refused the idea, which i really don't mind! i wouldn't mind cake on my face i would just be worried about him smashing it hard in my face and hurting my nose (my FH isn't the most graceful person Smiley winking

Totally agree with Glenn though, cake him first then run away giggling! you don't want him thinking the whole time how lame it is just to sit there eating cake..........

I would not call this a tradition.... Every time I see couple smashing cake in each others faces I feel like they have an underlying anger towards each other.....

I think its ridiculous. thankfully, my husband agreed and it wasnt even a conversation. I personally love having fun and a good time, but hate being made to feel foolish-which is exactly what i would have felt.

If he's really determined...what about having a cake at the rehearsal dinner and letting him do it there? ya know, at the end of the night, so you can wash up soon and a time when you are more relaxed? or promise him he can do it on your next birthday or something.

@Kimi k, I feel that way too, and also it seems like demeaning entertainment (if you can even call it that) for guests, at the other persons(bride/groom) expense!

FH told me he wanted to do this when the subject came up the other day and I said the same thing! I told him he better not or I will be pissed bc I don't want my makup to be messed up. He got very upset about it but I'm sorry I don't want to look messed up in all the pics taken after that!

The cake is at t he very end of the wedding, you shouldn't even be taking many, if any, pictures after that point. Seriously some of you need to lighten up and let loose and have fun.

I told my FH that if he intends on doing this then I will have a make up artist on stand by for the entire night and he will be picking up the tab...
