Really really REALLY DO NOT want to walk down the aisle to "here comes the bride" ...

MrsD2011, on May 2, 2011 at 7:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 41

Oh mothers ... I just don't want to walk down the aisle to here comes the bride ... I prefer either Pachabel's Canon or Trumpet Voluntary ... and my mom has said that those are songs the bridal party walks in to not the bride ... ugh ... up until maybe 6 months ago I did want to walk in to Here Comes the Bride but I have been listening to Pachabel's Canon and Trumpet Voluntary and like them better ... ugh ... sorry mini vent ...

I agree. I wouldn't want to walk down the aisle to that song either. I would do Pachabel's Cannon in D. It is lovely.

I'm hoping that maybe I'm right and the church in which we are marrying in, won't allow Here Comes the Bride ... if so I will throw my arms around the priest and say oh thank you thank you thank you ... I went to one other Catholic wedding and it wasn't allowed so I'm hoping that I'll luck out ... LOL

@ Torie C. wonder if I can also pull the I'm paying for the ceremony so I'll make the decisions LOL ... since my Mom has pulled the I'm paying for this wedding (though my Dad is) so I'll get my 2 cents in ... okay that was mean ...

I refuse to walk down the aisle to "Here Comes The Bride". We are having a harpist play "Ode To Joy" for the bridal party enterance and "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars for me. I really think its just a personal preferece. Maybe pick a favorite love song. I was going to walk down to Canon in D (beautiful song) before I heard her play Bruno Mars.

I had my brdal part walk in to Pachabel, I walked in to Handels Air - Water Music Suite, and we left to Ode to Joy. You can do whatever you want to do. (And don't let mom tell you it's a "new-fangled" thing - I was married 24 years ago!) My niece is getting married in May 2011 and will be walking down to a guitar playing "Rainbow Connection" (It has special meaning to her and her FH)

When my BFF got married, the BP walked in to Trumpet Voluntary and she walked in to Pachelbel's Canon. It was beautiful. She was married in a Catholic Church and was not allowed to use "Here Come's the Bride"

I really didn't like the idea of "Here Comes the Bride" either and was planning on Pachelbel's canon until I heard Jonathan Cain's version of the bridal march. It brought tears to my eyes, and definitely wasn't as loud and cheesy as the original bridal march.

Princess Diana walked to Trumpet Voluntary, and so did I! What about the song Kate Middleton walked to?

My cousin and her bridal party walked in to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring. They just played the first few notes of Here Comes the Bride to announce her entrance.

I am going to have my bridal party process to "Air on a G String" by Bach. Then I will walk in to Marry Me by Train. Not sure what the recessional song will be yet!

@STBMD I also almost cried when I heard Jonathan Cain's version of the bridal march. I am having my musicians learn it. I even found the sheet music for it at http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtdVPE.asp?ppn=MN0078339.

It is on itunes on the for a lifetime cd. It's called the Bridal March. When I just google searched on Jonathan Cain's version of the bridal march, I found a few other sites for download.

I really like the Jonathan Cain version of the Bridal March, too. I am wondering how I can make it longer, though. I may need to find someone who has a talent for those sorts of things!

Canon in D is DEFINITELY a bridal song. It is one of the more common ones used. I was going to use it, but now I am not sure. I want to walk to "Storybook Story" from Princess Bride, but my fiance doesn't think it sounds right for the entrance lol. Darn it!
