Really really REALLY DO NOT want to walk down the aisle to "here comes the bride" ...

Oh mothers ... I just don't want to walk down the aisle to here comes the bride ... I prefer either Pachabel's Canon or Trumpet Voluntary ... and my mom has said that those are songs the bridal party walks in to not the bride ... ugh ... up until maybe 6 months ago I did want to walk in to Here...

I have the same feelings about the "Here Comes the Bride song" I hate it! I'm going to be using Cannon in D.

It is your wedding, you can have whatever song you want.

My daughter walked down the aisle to "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", the Michael Jackson song, sung by one of my long time friends.

My last wedding I walked to the Prince of Denmark's March.

This time, no music at the ceremony as it is in the Judge's office - but music will be a the reception!

I love Pachabel's Canon in D! I am having the BP walk in to that. I am walking in to The Wedding Song by Kenny G. I can't wait to hear the strings play it in the church!! In my opinion I say that you should pick the song (s) that you feel will make your day everything you want it to be! Best wishes!! Smiley smile

I'm not walking down to "hear comes the bride" either. I know it's juvenile, but every time I hear it, it brings me back to elementary school when we used to sing, "here comes the bride, all fat and wide. Here comes the groom, skinny as a broom." It certainly doesn't help that my FH is tall and lanky! I want to walk down to Vivaldi's Winter from The Four Seasons....but my mom thinks that Canon will be a better choice. I think either song you choose will be fine - you have to walk in to to something you like!

@2d Bride - fantastic music pick, very uplifting!

I'm walking down the aisle to "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky. I love the Nutcracker and so does my fiance so it's perfect. Our recessional will be the conclusion of the 1812 overture Smiley smile

I am not walking down to "here come the bride" and the organist at the church always tries to talk brides out of it. Its from a musical by Wagner and the groom leaves the bride. Its aqtually kinda depressing to think about. I would send your mom this link and tell her this is part of why you don't want to use it.

I didn't have a church wedding... but had a ceremony just like one. my Bp all walked to "All for One," by Brian Adams/Sting/Rod Stewart, and then I walked down to "Bless the Broken Road," by Rascal Flatts. We made a CD for our favors. I still listen to it, and the songs are in order of the wedding. I relive my wedding every time i listen to it. I love it!!

Stacy S, I hear the exact same thing ... I have chosen "O" from Cirque du Soleil. It seems odd but it does remind me a bit of Canon in D. It's the only song I listened to that made my eyes well up with tears and the hair stand up on my arms from goosebumps. Here is a sample of it. Note, it does not start with the weird Intro drum but rather the piano. This is also not the entire song.

Don't worry about your guests not knowing when to stand. As long as the officiant knows which is "your" tune, s/he will tell the guests to "Please rise" and "Please be seated."

Also, if the rest of your wedding party is up front (including ring bearer & flower girl if you have them), obviously, you're next!

Its your day, not your moms. She doesn't have to like it. I personally have always wanted too, it's just part of the vision that I've had in my head. Canon in D is a lovely song, I will probably be going the route your mom wants you to go lol. But seriously, if you don't want to walk to it, don't! Use whatever song you want!

Use the song YOU want! And don't worry about guests not knowing to stand up, after the bridal party makes their way down and are standing up front. They'll know your next! Your minster/priest/father might also 'signal' for everyone to rise too. I've seen that happen too.

Use what you want to. I did walk down to Here Comes the Bride. I loved the song by Miley Cyrus "When I Look At You" and that is what the bridal party and I walked in to. I didn't tell anyone except my DH. No one said anything and I actually got quite a few people saying how much they loved it.
