Received Wedding Photos-- not in love with them.

Kaily, on July 12, 2024 at 10:38 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

We found our wedding photographer (Rod Algier) through Wedding Wire, and we are extremely disappointed with the experience, and the results of our photos. We absolutely do not feel as though we got $950 worth of photos.

Most of the photos are blurry (and we understand, people are moving around, its hard to get every photo crystal clear, but still), some photos are too bright (especially with my wedding dress), the only solo photo of me with all of my dress in the photo has a piece of hair in my face, some detail photos of my dress have some random object in the corner of the photo (photo attached), and we are just not impressed with the photos. Some photos are really good, and we love them, but overall, we are so sad.

I'm on a forum on Facebook where someone else brought up a similar issue (different photographer), and some people are saying that the photographer needs to give permission to make the edits. We need some suggestions.

Unfortunately, I see why you are not thrilled with the photos. In all honesty, these do not look as though they were done by a professional photographer or with a professional quality camera. These look as though they are photos taken by guests with a cell phone. Is this photographer a beginner? Are your photos on par with the photos on their website/portfolio? Does your contract state that photos cannot be edited/altered without permission?

This is what it states in the contract. I'm nor sure if that means we can't edit them. I messaged him to say that they need to be edited, and I haven't heard back. It took over a month after he said he would send the USB drive to us for us to get them. I almost resorted to bullet #5, and almost demanded a refund

Hmmm. It doesn't expressly state that you cannot alter them. Did he watermark the photos?

Not the ones that were sent in the USB drive. Just the ones we were able to view on his website for a few weeks

Well I can tell you what *I* would do... I would hire an outside editor to edit the photos and just tell them that you had a friend take photos at your wedding and you're hoping to make them look more like professional wedding photos. Not saying that's what you should do..... but that's what I would do 😉

I don't mean this meanly but that's extremely cheap for professional wedding photos and unfortunately the finished product reflects that. It also looks like he only had one review so that alone would've made me hesitant to use him. Hopefully you can find someone who can edit them for you.

I m sorry you don't l ike your photographs. It stinks to pay money and not be satisfied with the final product especially when it comes to a special event like a wedding. Your feelings and concerns about photos are valid. But I to add that you made an absolutely beautiful bride. Smiley heart .

One aspect to consider is that the photographer may not have ideal conditions for taking pictures. There may be a level of expertise that may be better for handling people in motion or for dark scenarios. You possibly paid for a lower level of expertise. The first picture has signs of being brightened and enhanced, which is suggestive of bad lighting.
