Reception Activities in Addition to Dancing

Allie, on February 4, 2018 at 8:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

Hi all! Many of our guests are not really into dancing, so we are planning to add some activities in addition to having a dance floor. Do you guys have some good ideas? Thanks!

Photobooths can be fun depending on your crowd, but besides that many will tell you dancing and alcohol should be plenty of entertainment.

Having good music, lots of booze and great food are all I've ever needed to be entertained at a wedding. Maybe a photobooth. Games and things move into the 'child's birthday party' territory.

I'm thinking about a Photo Booth. If you think they would like games you could set up a few table with some boards games some for like 2 players and then offer others that play up to 8. Embrace the season on Halloween you could create a "haunted house" or school-style carnival at your venue. For Christmas, you could all take to the streets for some pretty epic caroling or engage in a little sugar cookie decorating frivolity. If you are having a holiday wedding, embrace it and host a themed activity.

Maybe cards and board games. Lawn games if outside. Coloring sheets for kids. I'm tossing around these ideas for my wedding, also, because we will not have a DJ/ dancing, either.

We had a Photo Booth which was a lot of fun and of course open bar. Another idea is to do a guest polaroid where guests take pics of them and stick them in your guest book.

We were thinking a few different ideas (based on venue choice)
    - Beer pong ( i know, but it could be fun!)

    -Smores/ Fire pit

    -Cigar bar

    -Outdoor lounge

I saw a couple do a photo booth with a Llama - seemed cool.

Our venue has some fun options. They have yard games and a fire pit, which I think we're going to take advantage of, as well as looking into a photo booth with our DJ. It really depends on the type of venue you have and the style of your wedding. Usually dancing, drinks, and good company is more than enough to keep people entertained.
