Reception chairs upgrade

Jenniferleighh, on July 31, 2024 at 9:56 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Our reception is in a Inn's restaurant and comes with the red chairs below. We were originally going to rent gold chiarvi chairs from an outside company as we felt the red chairs were too large and would feel out of place. We got quoted 1,600 for those chairs though!

Our other options are willow chairs - the second picture (not our venue). That is a little cheaper. Or mahogany padded folding chairs, the third picture. These would be about 700. But I'm not sure if the folding chairs are more suited for an outdoor reception.

Has anyone paid to upgrade the chairs? Did you feel that it was worth it?!

I really wanted different chairs at my wedding and my husband was willing to pay the exact $1,000+, but that probably would've meant giving up something else that I would've wanted. In the end, we decided to stick with the chairs that the venue had that we didn't have to pay exact for. While I hated them when we toured the venue, I didn't even pay a moment's notice to them on the day of the wedding. I have since sat in chiavari chairs and I'm glad I made the decision to stick with the chairs the venue had because the chiavari chairs don't seem the notice sturdy especially for guests that might be heavier. Both my brother and brother-in-law are larger men and I couldn't picture either one comfortably sitting on chiavari chairs.

I’d probably be a little annoyed as a guest if I knew I could’ve had sturdy, padded chairs and they were switched out for a folding chair. I don’t see the different options you listed as an upgrade from the existing chairs.

I love the second chairs! They are unique and they fit your venue perfectly. While the existing chairs aren’t horrible, I completely understand what you are saying – they look as though they would be heavy & clunky and maybe difficult for guests to maneuver (especially children and elderly guests).

The original chairs seem like they would be most comfortable. Other than that, the guests will not really be focused on the chairs. They would just use what they have and not think about it.

The chiavari chairs look beautiful, but honestly, I'd probably skip the upgrade and put that money towards something else. People really only sit in the chairs for dinner and formal reception events, and then they're up dancing or socializing.
