Hello!

Are y’all planning on doing a dance with your father in law, while your FH dances with your mom?

I think that would be sweet, but I wouldn't do it as a spotlight dance. I think that the more of those you have the slower you reception feels and most people get bored reallllly fast with things like that. I would suggest doing it as a part of a bigger group, and just mention it to your photography/videography team!

I haven’t heard of this. We’re not planning to do one.

I like the idea of letting the photographer know. This might be an old tradition, because my mom did it at her wedding & was wanting to did it at ours.

Personally, I'm not nearly close enough with FH's dad to do this. I've heard of them, but I've never actually seen anyone do them in the last few years of weddings.

That is not a tradition I have heard of, but if you want to do it, go ahead.

As Mandee said, though, you might want to make it a broader part of dancing, as it would slow down the reception.

I don’t feel like that’s necessary imo. The mother/son and father/daughter dances are emotional and just a nice way to celebrate that relationship but I feel like it would be awkward to dance with my FFIL and for FH to dance with my mom.

I’ve never heard of in-law spotlight dances. We each danced with our own parent. I guess it would be nice, however for us, 3 spotlight dances was enough.
