Reception Entrance Song

Jennifer, on July 27, 2009 at 7:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I am having the hardest time finding a song for when we make our entrance into the reception. We're not having a bridal party. We're being announced, will enter and then do our first dance (to Bon Jovi's Thank You For Loving Me). I want something upbeat and fun. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Have your DJ play a song for each couple as they come in. He/she can cue it at the hot spot and you can creat a lot of energy this way.

Identify who your wedding party is and pick songs approriate for them. some example for the wedding party...

    Thriller

    cotton Eyed joe

    Boom Boom Pow

I Like the Way you move

    Baby got Back

    Parents

    Walk This Way

    Mustang Sally

    I got you - I feel good

    Have fun with it.

    Please note!!!!!

Done incorrectly it can come off as unpolished and cheesy. Make sure your DJ has a through understanding and comptitent.

Chuck - thanks for the post, but as I mentioned, there is no bridal party or parents being announced. Just my FH and me. We've got a few options that we're working on. Thanks for everyone's help!

We feel that a Grand Entrance should never be underplayed, although some will overplay it, sometimes in a very typical fashion. We really try to recommend songs that have personal meaning to both the Bride and Groom (at least one of you). I just had a client select the theme music to Seinfeld, another chose a song from Napolean Dynamite, some have chosen the Rocky theme. One of our other clients is a big fan of dueling pianos and is selecting a song from their repertoire to use. We feel that the more personalized your Wedding is, the more your guests will get to know you. The more they get to know you, the more successful your Wedding will be.

Also, if you use an iphone by chance, you can use the application "shazam" to find out that song you missed on the radio should it come on again.

If you type in some of the lyrics into the search engine of what you heard this morning it should come up with song title and artist

A lot of our brides lately have been using "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. It's a really fun upbeat song.

OR if you like Taylor Swift, there's a really cool new version out, call "Love Story Meets Viva La Vida". Here it is:

We're thinking about doing a combination of Mendelssohn's Wedding March then going into Pink's Get The Party Started. How long should this piece be?? Especially since it's just the two of us making an entrance??

We are HUGE hard rock fans so we are going with "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard LOL. It's sort of a happy medium between the harder rock we like and the more fun stuff our families like. It has a great beat to get up and get excited about! We were also trying to go for something that not everyone would think of but when they hear it, its like "WOW that's definately them!"
