Reception Entrance

Brittaney, on February 6, 2015 at 7:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33

What is everyone doing for the reception entrance? Are you walking in casually or dancing in? What are yours and your bridal party's entrance songs?

We had a young crowd who was ready to party so our Wedding Party members were introduced 2 at a time and came into the reception dancing to "Happy." DH and I came dancing in to the reception to "Party Rock Anthem." We all scattered and grabbed all of our guests to come dance with us for the remainder of the song. It was super fun and our photographers and videographers got great shots of a full dance floor with happy guests who weren't all sweaty and tired yet.

Our crowd likes to party so our bridal party is walking into turn down for what and we are walking into Shots (mainly because everyone knows my favorite drink is Patron and that's one of our "signature drinks") so we are hoping those sounds really set the party tone for the night.

We just walked in. No music, no dancing. It was faster that way. To me, music and dancing for entering is strange. I didn't know people did that until WW.

    Edited for grammar.

I don't know if we'll "dance" in but we'll be "celebrating" in, if that makes sense lol

Since our reception is on the slightly informal side, we are just walking in and straight to the dance floor for our first dance.

I am not sure what we will do seeing as FH is so shy, he barely wants to do the first dance!! He wants the bridal party to enter to a hip hop song I hate that is played during the Miami Heat games (his favorite team) and I have tried so hard to change his mind but nothing works. We will be entering to Niggas in Paris-Jay z and Kanye also picked by FH. He said I haven't let him pick anything in this wedding and this is all he wants so I will have to surrender.

Our Venue has this AWESOME elevator that comes out of the floor, so the BP will all come out two at a time from the entrance and then when its our turn they do a whole big smoke & lights entrance.

At first I though it was super cheesy but we went to another wedding that had something similar and FH was like "WE HAVE TO DO THE ELEVATOR ENTRANCE" we haven't picked any music or anything yet

    Edited for spelling

@FutureMrsLaguna, I totally understand wanting him to be able to pick something. I just read the lyrics to that song (never heard it) and I hope your guests are understanding.

I don't think we're 'entering' at all. We're just going to come in. No big fanfare or anything. It's not done like that at British weddings so my family would find it really weird. Plus I've seen in done on shows like 4weddings and I don't like it.

Pretty sure we are going to do Treasure by Bruno Mars. I need to get as much Bruno Mars into my day as possible. I joked to FH that we should just hire him to sing at our wedding and I wouldn't need any more variety than that. Other Bruno Mars selections will be Rest of My Life for our first dance, and Locked out of Heaven and Uptown Funk during the regular dancing.
