Reception Favor Ideas

shamiratyoung, on November 21, 2012 at 9:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

I am in need of reception favor ideas that are DIY and inexpensive for a fall wedding. We thought about our theme being "Sweet Tooth" because we both love candy. I love anything chocolate and my husband-to-be's favorite candy of all time is sour patch kids. Any ideas on how to make candy look sophisticated for less?

I went to a wedding where they gave out teeny little mason jars filled with jelly beans. It looked nice. My best friend also gave out these cookies that had her and her husband's (and their dogs') picture on them. They were wrapped in cellophane and tied with a bow. They also looked very pretty.

You could do chocolate covered pretzels very cheap and wrap in cellophane with a ribbon matching you wedding colors....no necessarily fall themed but its simple easy and delicious. You could also do candy apples..caramel dipped apples and chocolate apples. If you want more of the fall theme

Maple candies are cute for a fall wedding, just an idea. If you wanted to do candies that you guys both like you could do a candy buffet. To help keep the candy buffet budget friendly go to local second hand stores and Dollar Tree for glass jars. Or you could do individual favors in cute jars like Leanna suggested I know the craft stores like JoAnn fabrics, Micheals and Hobby Lobby have a good selection of favor containers (boxes, baggies and jars). Here's some random pics for ideas.

Thanks for the ideas Smiley smile. I thought about doing the baggies because I figured we could by them from Party City and I could make them by myself but I don't know what type of chocolate candy we could use that wouldn't melt???

We did maple candy for our Vermont wedding. We put them in boxes that helped decorate the table.

Oriental Trading offers lower cost favor box/bag options.

Have you considered making your own chocolate pops and then using them as escort cards?

    1. Chocolate Covered Oreos accented with your color chocolate and wrapped with a tag that functions as an escort card.

    2. White or Dark Chocolate wedding cakes.

    3. DIY chocolate covered cake pops.

You could also have your "pops" function as centepieces.

    1. Tootise Pop centerpiece

    2. Cake Pop Centerpiece

    3. Regular pops in a bucket as a centerpiece.

Carole M. I really liked your Tootsie Pop Centerpiece idea Smiley smile. That actually "kills two birds with one stone" as the expression goes. I needed ideas for centerpieces as well as favors.

You could take empty toilet paper rolls and fill those with little candies and wrap them up and tie coordinating string at the ends. I'm thinking of doing those for favors. Fill them with little gummies, chocolate and reese's pieces. Smiley smile

Edit: speaking of that, I'ma go add items to my amazon wishlist! Smiley tongue

Little bags with malted milk balls, Reece's pieces, m & ms, or jelly beans, small boxes with home-made truffles, or chocolate bars are some ideas.
