How are you seating yourselves and your wedding party at your reception? How are you seating yourselves and your wedding party at your reception?

A sweetheart table (just you and your new spouse, and seating your wedding party either among the rest of the guests or at their own table)? cfb_2x_1514933.jpg

Or a Head Table (where you, your new spouse, and your wedding party members all sit together, and the significant others/dates of your wedding party members are seated elsewhere)? cfb_2x_1514935.jpg

Or a King's Table (you, your new spouse, your wedding party members, and the significant others/dates of your wedding party members)? cfb_2x_1514937.jpg

Here is an article describing each of these: https://burghbrides.com/blog/sweetheart-head-kings-table-whats-difference/

What are you choosing for seating for your reception - sweetheart table, head table, or king's table, and why?

We are hoping to do a split head table. I'd personally find the sweetheart table awkward as some have previously mentioned in the comments (have everyone ogle us while I shovel food down my throat? No thanks haha), but at the same time I didn't want to have to walk alllllllll the way around a normal head table in my big dress, so we got the idea to have a small square table flanked by two long tables on each side. We have a bit to go before end of May and haven't started the floor plan yet, but our venue indicated last year that it should be doable.

We will be doing a kings table! However, it’s still just going to be us and our wedding party due to the large size of the party (22 including us). I like that people can talk to others easier than just the two people on either side of them.

Definitely sweetheart. Would be nice to get a few moments together and it’ll be nice for a photo. Also we have a small wedding party and I don’t feel right asking their significant others to sit by themselves elsewhere

Those were the two that I keep going back and forth with too! I think what I'll ultimately do is both: a kings table for wedding party and their significant others, except my fiance and I at a sweetheart table that'll be nearby, which seems like the best of both worlds. The kings table is a great option though, perfect for spending extra time with your closest friends without separating them from their significant others!

I'm not quite following what you mean by a split head table, can you explain it? It sounds like an interesting idea!

Oh wow, that's a large wedding party! Very cool! I agree, it's a lot easier for everyone to interact when they're sitting next to/across from people, as opposed to when they're all sitting on the same side of the table.

The few moments alone with my new husband is my biggest draw towards a sweetheart table! I also agree that I wouldn't want to split up wedding party members from their significant others.

Very cool! Are you seating your wedding party members among the rest of the guests? Or are you seating them at their own table?

Hi Lisa! Below is a mockup I did. Some might say the king's table could eliminate the having to walk all the way around in a heavy dress problem I mentioned earlier, but our venue has this wall with a curtain of fairy lights on it that I fell in love with and want to have as a backdrop behind us Smiley smile

We’re doing a sweetheart lounge since the reception will be mix-n-mingle cocktail style.
