Beginner October 2020

reception seating

Edith, on September 11, 2020 at 7:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

I am having my wedding reception at a barn/ranch venue however the area where I was going to set up my tables is not big enough for round tables therefor I am doing one really long table for 60 people. (30 people on each side) with candles and greenery going down the middle. I am worried about what people will think about this? Is it tacky or elegant? We are having a taco truck cater therefor people will probably only be at their seats for a short period of time (eat, toast etc.) then I'm sure everyone will hit the dance floor/mingle/pictures. I am just worried about what people will say since the typical is individual round tables.

That's fine. Nothing improper about it. The seating assignments will be more of a challenge as well as those locating their seats. As long as there's a map to follow, you should be fine.

People are more open to different than you think. Some will sit and mingle while others will dance, so it all works out.

I think it's ok to not do round tables but my concern is that your wedding is october 2020 -- how would you space everyone adequately enough due to covid?

You would have to stagger the seating in a zigzag formation

I was wondering the same thing. You will need to make sure you space everyone out enough.

I don’t think it’s tacky, but I assume they will be sitting close? This would worry me because of Covid

Under normal circumstances, this plan would be fine. But how will you adequately space people out to maximize social distancing? This is what would concern me

I don't think it's tacky at all. I think it's actually quite elegant. I'm assuming your venue can help you determine if such a seating arrangement is legal in your area right now.

It’s not tacky, and it actually looks very elegant, however it does make conversation a little more difficult for guests, so it depends what is more important to you!

Seat your guests in a zig zag formation so there is space between them. That means that you will have to use a longer table setup or two long tables side by side to accommodate everyone. But it can done and still take in account the 6ft rule.

In the before times, this would be great, but with the need for social distancing, I agree... you're going to have to stagger or come up with more tables.

I don't think it is tacky. It just limits your guests ability to socialize with other guests. They can basically only talk to who is next to them or directly across from them...
