Reception Table Upgrades:

Sarah, on December 12, 2020 at 10:55 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Hi,

So I am torn with trying to make decisions regrading linen & table upgrades. Obviously if it were in the price range to do everything then this would not be a discussion, but we are trying to save some money here and there, and this is one of the areas. The standard is white linen, white napkins, white chivari chairs. I have decided I am good with the included chairs. I have also decided to upgrade the linen on the sweetheart table, and stick with the included white linen for the guest tables. Now I am torn to either upgrade the napkins to a light blush color, add a charger, or do both. What do you think makes the most difference, should we do both, does it look funny to not have your napkins the same as the linen?

Thank you advance for any feedback!

I like the pop of a color napkin. I prefer the color to be different than the table cloth.
Do you have to upgrade through your venue? I found some on sale online and got them for cheap, like $0.50 a napkin. I can’t remember what site I used. There’s efavormart, linentablecloth.com, and another one don’t remember off the top of my head.
I also think a charger makes the table look more complete, but they’re not necessary. Again not sure if you have to go through your venue, but check out Facebook market place, dollar tree, or I bought mine one at a time using the coupon from hobby lobby. I had to start buying them a few months before the wedding, but I saved quite a bit on them. They are $1.99 but with the coupon after tax I paid $1.20 But remember none of it is necessary so if it’s not in the budget to upgrade anything. Your tables will be fine and your guests won’t be bothered by white napkins and no charger.

Neither are necessary and can be skipped if you want to save money. You could do either really. Personally I would see if you can rent them inexpensively. While stores like efavormart sell them cheap, you have to iron the napkins and try to figure out what to do with them afterwards. Same for selling chargers. The time spent setting up the sale and following through to the end is money and you would likely be best off renting through your caterer if you feel it's a must. As a guest, I honestly wouldn't mind the plain white napkins with no charger.

I agree with Michelle. Any of these options will look nice, and the average guest doesn't care about napkin color or place settings. I'll be honest. I got married a little over a year ago and I don't remember our table settings, and I sat there with my event coordinator discussing napkin and linen colors for a bit as well. When you think back to your wedding in the future, you won't be thinking about the napkins.

Thank you so much for everyone's input! Everyone always says guest won't remember but I have to keep telling myself this! I love the look of a charger on the table, however my fiancé clearly never notices them, as I've had to explain to him what they are lol

I've also considered buying, etc. However I just don't want to be stressed or bothered with setting them up or preparing them that day.
