Reception that is not catered on the beach

Mary, on September 22, 2019 at 9:15 AM Posted in Florida Planning 0 6
We are going to get married on the beach in a small wedding, maybe 40 people at the most. Family is going to be cooking all of the food. We thought about just having the reception on the beach, but are worried about the weather since it’s in June. Vacation house will not allow a wedding reception. Anyone know of any place you can rent on Fort Myers beach where you are just using the venue and supplying your own food?

Many beaches on the Gulf coast have pavilions of various sizes that you can rent. Look at the Lee county county government website or the county Parks and Recreation site. They should list available rentals on various beaches.
But be careful with self-catering. It’s a hassle and a liability-hard to keep food at appropriate temps, and also who’s going to cook all day on your wedding day?

We're getting married in Fort Myers Beach too! Our ceremony will be on Bowditch beach and they have a pavillion type area there you might be able to use. We're doing a small lunch reception at Pink Shell next door.
Where will the food be during the ceremony? It's so hot you might need a place with a kitchen so you can store the food when it's not needed.
There are a lot of restaurants near the beach too that are casual and not expensive if you wanted to go that route instead.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Mary!!

As the pps mentioned already, it is important to think about how the food will be prepared, stored and heated for your wedding is your family will be at your ceremony. Have you thought about a plan for this?

Have you thought about an event tent that could be set up on the beach? Of course, this would mean that you need appropriate permissions from the local government.

What about hiring an Airbnb or guest house at the beach that would provide a kitchen, bathroom and indoor area for guests but also access to the beach should you want?

We wanted to rent a house on the beach to have the wedding and reception at the beach. If you know of any houses on Fort Myers beach that would allow that it would be greatly appreciated. Everyone I checked with has said they do not allow weddings because of insurance.

I looked there but they say no parties/events so I’m not sure how to find a house that will allow it. Is there a way to ask Airbnb what houses they have that will allow it?
