Reception to follow screw up

Makris, on September 20, 2021 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
I feel like an idiot.

I ordered my invites online & the template said reception to follow. I left it there not really knowing it’s used only when reception and ceremony are in the same space.
I have included a reception card in my invitation suite, but the “reception to follow” on my invites is driving me nuts. Is this gonna be really obvious to guests or is my pre wedding freak out mode just in full effect?

Is the reception immediate following the ceremony and guests just have to go to the knew location? If so then this is pretty normal. It's telling them that the reception is right after the ceremony. But honestly, even if you re having a long break between ceremony and reception, as long as the time and reception details are on the card, I doubt guests will really notice. If I were a guest I would pay attention to the specific time and location on the details card.

I have never taken "reception to follow" to only mean that it is in the same location, just that it is following the ceremony. You are good with the details card. Maybe just have your officiant state "the bride and groom now invite you to [name of reception venue) to continue the celebration." Or something along those lines at the end of the ceremony.

As long as the reception card list all details including the location, you are fine. Honestly I would not worry because unlike the new Covid trend of “have a tiny ceremony with 5 guests and have the reception the following day or 12 months away for those who were not invited to the ceremony with absolutely nothing following on the day of for those attending ”, you are taking your guests’ comfort and convenience into consideration.

Don't worry about the "reception to follow"!! You've included a reception card with all of the info, so guests will know where to go! 👍

As long as a reception does indeed happen after the ceremony (same day), you are good to go!
