Recessional music

Katryna, on April 5, 2022 at 2:26 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 13

Hey guys, I would love to hear what some have chosen as their recessional music. We picked a song for our wedding party and the bridal precessional but we are having a difficult time picking a song that will end our ceremony. We do not want to choose anything that is overplayed. To give an idea of our taste the wedding party is walking down to forever by Mumford and Sons and I am walking down to every night by imagine dragons.

I have chosen to end our ceremony and walk down to Jess Glynne Hold my Hand! I'm so excited about it. I spoke with my co-worker and she suggested to play it right at the beginning of the chorus instead of having an awkward wait time for us to start walking down the aisle. I want it to be fun and upbeat and I love the lyrics Darling Hold My Hand and when she says I'm ready for this. It's great.

We walked out to a song from an Australian movie that we liked and that was certainly unique and different. Do you have a favourite movie song or tv show song that you could choose from one that means something to you? Smiley smile

We're walking down the aisle to a beautiful instrumental version of "I See the Light" (my choice) and my groom had found a piano mashup from "Lord of the Rings"/"Pachabel's Cannon in D", but it's disappeared from our phones, and now we're (okay, I'M) scrambling for a recessionary. He's got incredibly eclectic taste in music, and we're having a medieval/LOTR influenced wedding theme. I don't necessarily want to use "Merry Meet" or "Concerning Hobbits, as those have been done many times before... 🤔

We had 'you are the best thing' by Ray Montagne. What about All My Love or Paradise by George Ezra?

My fiancé and I wanted to use “this will be” by Natalie cole. Definitely not an “underplayed” wedding song. Also I feel like we’ll look like the end of a 2002 romcom 😂

The recessional music should be something fun! One of my bridesmaids and her husband used the song Celebration by Kool and the Gang, but I'm sure that one gets overused. We, on the other hand, used The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News.

I think the recessional music should kick off the upbeat and fun feeling the rest of the evening should have. Especially after an emotional and heartfelt ceremony. We chose "Way Out There" by Carter Burwell. Most people might recognize it as the opening song to the movie Raising Arizona. Starts with a big loud "WEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Holy crap, that's it!! THANK YOU!!! I've been going completely nuts, trying for Months to get my groom to pick out a recessional song. Finally, after reading your post, I offered up (in frustration and a little passive aggressivness) an instrumental version of the Rickroll, which is so NOT the usual synth version, it actually takes a moment to figure out what it is. He loved it! He said he wants to wait til we're almost at the end of the aisle (on our way out, before everyone else) before starting that version, "So we don't Rickroll ourselves". 😄 It's Epic Orchestra on YouTube.

We chose to end the ceremony with "Stupid Love" by Lady Gaga. It felt right for us and suits our style.
