Recommended Dance Floor Dimensions

Jen, on August 23, 2021 at 9:48 PM Posted in Planning 1 6
Hi everyone. I’m looking into renting a dance floor. Previously I had no idea they came in so many different sizes. The vendor mentioned a variety of different sizes to use including 16x16 and 20x20. Does anyone have any recommendations for how big it should be for 130 guests? I can’t tell by just looking at photos online. This is how I’m imagining the venue set up.

Most likely not everyone will be dancing at the same time so you may not want a super huge floor taking up so much space for "so little" people to be on it. For example a 15x15 dance floor is recommended for 150 in attendance with 50-60 guests dancing at a time. If they don't have smaller than a 16x16, I personally wouldn't go over that since you'll have 130 in attendance.

My venue had theres set up as 21x21 but I've requested it to be 18x18. We have 115 people attending.

Thank you so much for the advice. I didn’t think about the fact that not everyone would be dancing at the same time.

I believe ours was 16x16, and we had 125 guests. It felt like a good size.
As long as you have the space, a Too Big dance floor is always better than one that is Too Small. I went to a wedding that had a small dance floor and we were stuck at the edge dancing half on the floor half on the carpet, which was really annoying and made me cut my dancing short. Alternatively I was just at a small event in a huge event space that has a massive dance floor. There was no downside. People could spread out and really move and the dancers had a blast. As long as it’s not making it so the tables are all crowded together !
