Rectangle Tablecloths on round tables

Megan, on March 16, 2021 at 9:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
So as all brides know these "fun little surprises" come up in wedding planning.

Well for starters we had to reschedule our initiative wedding plan due to covid. We bought 30 60x126" rectangle table cloths for our initial plan.
Then covid hit, we had a 25 person mini-moni and picked a new venue. A month after we put a deposit down on a venue we got notice they were selling the venue (this is also when we signed the contract because they had never presented us with one yet)
We had a meeting with the new owners and asking other issues we found out they charge $15-20 to rent colored table clothes when the old owners just told us they had all colors and nothing about a rental fee. Well this new venue has round tables and only has white Linens which we weren't planning on. Is there any way you all have found to make rectangle ones work? Even if you pin them a specific way?

Rectangle Tablecloths on round tables 1Could you do something like this? Use the round white tablecloths as a base and put your colors tablecloth on top? Might need to hem the rectangular tablecloth to use it like this.

To get that look, you would have to have an expert seamstress cut them in half and square them up. The labor costs per tablecloth alone will be more than renting what the venue has available.

If you want them to be perfect, I agree! But if you don't care if it's perfect, you have access to a sewing machine, and you have nothing else better to do (aka me sitting at home cuz spin class, hanging with friends and family, and eating out is still cancelled) then I think it's achievable.

I was hoping to resell them (I was cheaper to buy them then rent them) to earn some money back because since everything got changed it ended up more expensive that we initially aimed for
I was thinking fold the end into the center or maybe even pinning up the long ends or not using them at all but would prefer too since we already bought them

We used rectangular table cloths at the wedding venue I worked at. If they're large enough and you use 2, you can get it to look really nice.

Just layer two and put a runner down the middle so you don't notice? Or did you pin them together

Tucking the ends in is much easier! That's a great idea. Also you probably already thought of this but, is it possible to just return them? Or you could list them for sale on Facebook Marketplace and see if there are any takers.

We can't return them without paying shipping cost which just seemed ridiculous so I have posted them in about 15 different groups and Facebook marketplace lol this is our second time trying to sell them so if someone wants them that would be great but if not yet I figure why not try and use them lol

No pinning needed. We only used round tables but the linen company we did business with only did rectangles? I would do a criss-cross of the squares, make sure they're laid out evenly. Not that you'd know off the top of your head, but ask them the diameter of the tables and compare that with the size of your table cloths. I don't know that I'd do a runner with rounds, but that's completely up to you! I learned some really fancy napkin folds that can look really nice as well.

Did you say they only have white? See if you can get them to do napkins in one of your colors? We always had white and black linens in stock, and we would order special colors if they wanted. It was only ever more expensive if they wanted the really fancy linen (because we had to outsource).

They do only have white tablecloths but I don't think they offer napkins and such but the tables did seat 8 so I'm thinking those are 60"
